travelzoo and priceline explained

i've heard these two websites talked about alot here, i know little about them so can someone explain them to me.

do i get to pick my hotel before payment or do they pick and i take what i'm given ???

any other advice would be great

On Priceine (and Hotwire) you do not get to pick your hotel.

On Travelzoo its just basically a site that lists good deals. You can take or leave those

There is a plus side to not knowing where you will be staying before you pay..that is ... you save a lot of money. I use Priceline often & only once was I very very unhappy. The hotel refunded me my money plus my Priceline fee's... If you do your research you will be ok. Go on www.biddingfortravel.com, there will be much info there to guide you.
