Travelscoot -- Any users have experience at Disneyworld?

I would appreciate hearing from any Travelscoot users who've used one at Disneyworld. I recently bought Mom one. We used it on a cruise recently, and it was great. Just wondering about experiences at Disneyworld. I'm concerned about the best way to secure it when we go on rides, since it's so light and portable.

I have gone to their web site and looked at everything there. It does not have a key. One major problem will be that the indicated range is 8 miles with a 180 pound person on a level paved surface, and that with hills the range will go down considerably. WDW does seem to have a lot of hills, normally not noticed by most people. It is very likely that it would not last a full day on a charge.

As far as your question about securing it, there is nothing that can be done. For almost all attractions it can be driven through the queue and parked in load/unload. Disney does not allow the locking of any sort of vehicle to anything that is stationary, so you could not use a chain or cable lock.

About the only thing I could thing of is if you had some sort of lock which could be used on the brakes.

I would just park it with the rest of the ECV's. Often this is the same place as the stroller parking. I seriously doubt anyone will bother it or try to steal it.

If the batteries won't last all day most, if not all, of the restaurants will have an electrical outlet that they will let you use to plug in and charge a scooter while you eat. They're very good about this-at least that's been my experience.

That is a thread asking people how far the walk at parks. Some people used pedometers to verify the long distances from 6 to 21 miles. We often do not notice the hills as they maybe ramps, bridges, inclines, and curb cut offs. If you do run out of power just ask a CM and they can help you find a power outlet. You should be fine if you have a power meter of some sort and make sure you plug in when possible.

That is a list of some of the many outlets available for recharging besides restaurants. Ask a CM for help as some outlets may be hidden or a bit out of the way from plain view. You can park and walk or have a companion park it for you. It is a 3 year old thread but surely people have been checking it and updating it if necessary.

Thanks so much for the posts. I appreciate knowing where and how to charge it if necessary. Fortunately, the L-ion battery goes twice as far on a charge as the sealed lead acid battery, so I'm hopeful we'll be okay in that regard.

I realize we can't chain it to anything, so I guess we'll take it as far through a line as we can and then park it.

I've never seen a Travelscoot in my many trips to WDW, so I guess we'll sort it out and blaze new trails, so to speak.

If you lose the link to the outlet locations, there is a link to that thread in post #3 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread.

Also, if you are going in line with it, for shows, you will be bringing it all the way into the theater and sitting in it.
For rides where you need to get out of it and board a ride car, you will be parking it where ever you board the attraction. That's a pretty protected place. Most people are in a hurry to get on and off and would not even notice it parked there. Besides, even if they do see it, they have no idea who it belongs to and when you might come back. So, I would not worry about parking it in the accessible boarding area. If the boarding area is not the same as the exit, a CM will move it to the exit for you.

You probably can't lock it in any way that makes it unable to move. You may be able to lock it in a way that makes it inconvenient to drive though - like somehow over the controls in a way the lock would hit your hand when driving it. Or, you might be able to put a lock over the seat so it would be uncomfortable to drive it. I would also be more concerned about it in places like Downtown Disney, where people don't pay admission to get in and also have their cars nearby. Anyone who stole it from the parks would have to figure out how to get it out to their car.

I see from the website you can fit a second set of batteries & double the range

As far as your question about securing it, there is nothing that can be done.

Most scooters I have seen, have a very crude simple 'key' made from a mono 'Jack' plug & socket' that could be bought mail order from any electronics supplier. You could easy make one yourself ...or any any auto-electrics shop could do it.
