I just booked a flight from northern michigan thru Detroit to Orlando for $282 for our Thanksgiving trip. This is a Continental Flight operated by Northwest. I've never seen anything like this during holiday time before. Neither Northwest nor Continental had anything comparable or reasonable to offer. The dates and times aren't perfect, but we can adjust. In the past we've paid $346 on NW (a good deal) and $400 on AA (just okay).

You may want to check with Travelocity to see if other unusual fares are to be had.

I booked through them once for a Delta flight that had a great price that wasn't on Delta's website. Well, the old saying too good to be true is right. The next day Delta called me and told me they couldn't honor the price that I go got from Travelocity, because it was too low so they cancelled my reservation. I called Travelocity and got nowhere. So from now on, I will only get my airfare from the airline's websites and no place else.

In the past if the airline did not want to honor the fare then Expedia and Travelocity have honored it and taken it up with the airline....if it was the airlines error then the agent (Travelocity in this case) can force them to honor it (they have a lot more clout with Northwest or Delta than I do!!). If it was the agents error (Travelocity) they should , as a reputable agent honor the fare they booked and eat the difference to book you with the airline.

We have had this happen twice (once with Expedia and once with Travelocity) and both times when I politely but firmly insisted that I had a confirmation in hand for a certain flight at a certain fare they honored it.

If you did not recieve a confirmation number when you tried to book then that may be a different matter entirely....all travel sites have fares show up every now and then that cannot be actually booked....and while they really get your hopes up....they won't go through when you try to complete the booking.

If you have a confirmation in hand you should be fine.

Sounds good to me. This is the third or fourth time I've booked airfare with Travelocity. We've never had a problem with them before. Everything has always been very smooth. Maybe I just got lucky with airfare for a change. I do have a confimation number and e-mail fom Travelocity.
