Travelling with Young Ones

We're planning on a trip to Disney World in November. We have two boys...4 and 2. For those of you that were brave enough to do this too, how did you handle traveling on buses/shuttles? We're flying down, and taking the Magical Express back and forth to the airport. I'll have a device to create a harness seat on the plane for our younger son, but it's not meant for cars/buses. We just want to make sure that they're safe.

Any suggestions?

You're not going to be able to bring a car seat on the buses. You would need to hold them either while you are standing or on your lap if you are sitting, which is what everyone else does.

If you are concern about that then I would suggest renting a car and driving to and from your resort to the parks each day.

It's late and I'm sleepy and I'm not going to explain this very well, but buses behave differently than cars do in accidents. You are probably safer on a Disney bus than in a car. Charter buses like the Magical Express are designed with compartmentalization, which reduces the impact of a crash.

Also, consider the convenience. It's just easier (for us anyway) to ride the bus. Remember, you will have to take a shuttle to get back to your car, so you'll still be holding the boys the way you would on a bus.

Over 250,000 children a year are injured in car accidents, and over 2000 die, but only about 26 children a year are killed in bus accidents. School buses carry approximately 24 million students each year, over 4 billion miles per year. Disney buses are nicer than school buses (or nicer than OURS anyway - lol).

Only you can decide if you are more confortable on a bus or in a car, but IMHO the bus is safer, even without restraints.
