Thanks to all those who replied to my earlier post.

Having taken your comments on board it has been decided that the best thing is to stay offsite and have seperate hotel rooms but still only have 1 car.

DH and I have not stayed offsite in 8 years (we prefer Disney and love OKW but the prices for next year are shocking once you take flights into account )

Now the big question - Where do we stay?

I am looking at I Drive and LBV or even possibly hotels in DTD. I would like somewhere that is good value for money (but not too cheap) and would like to be able to walk to some restaurants for evening meals as it would be nice to have a couple of beers some nights.

Does anybody have any recommendations / suggestions.

There are 6 of us travelling - 4 adults and 2 children aged 15 and 13

Well....we stayed in DTD last year in the Wyndham LBV.(its been renovated since its take over) Its right next to the DTD Market Place so well handy. It's perfectly fine as long as you are in the Tower Rooms and not the annex. For its location its very reasonably priced compared to some of the others in the same location. TBH we really missed not staying in a resort hotel big time and wouldn'd do it again but this was a good second choice. Have stayed off resort in Kissimmee and that is a def no no to ever do again. You sort of have the best of both worlds in this hotels location because when you are doing Disney you really can just split up and not all have to come back by car but hop on a Disney Bus instead, abeit going via a resort hotel for the connection. It just means you can plan some good meals in the hotels and not have to worry about the driving as well. :thumbsup2

We thought Rosen Inn Pointe orlando was a great hotel for the price - plenty of good places to eat within walking distance. South end of I drive.

I would not hesitate to recommend Wyndhams Bonnet Creek (there is a whole thread dedicated to it on the Orlando Hotels Board). They have 1-4 bedroom villa's, well what we would call suites/apartments. Resort has 5 pools, 2 lazy rivers, We will be staying for 4th time in August for 3 weeks. We have stayed at SSR 3 times and we usually stay at BC in December and SSR in the summer. However, we really need a 2 bed now and SSR just too expensive this year even taking into account free dining. I would say the rooms are better than SSR and the resort is great but very different, we love both. Its right next door to Caribbean Beach so you cant really walk anywhere but very convenient for Boardwalk and DTD. There is now a hotel on site plus there are bars there too.
I book through an owner at www.vacationupgrades.com

i would agree with this idea, Wyndham. we stayed in DTD but the opposite end and after a long day in parks it was too much to walk home too but DTD hotel have bus of there own so you have a good choice of transport. Its in an ideal location
