We will be heading off to Orlando soon and I have a question from some of our group. Can they bring their contact kits on the plane with them? They are concerned about putting their lenses and solutions in their checked luggage. They would be in a pickle if their suitcase was lost.

They have the dailies which are in a little solution as well as the bottle of solution that they need from time to time...

Any suggestions???

I wear dailies too. I usually take one pair in my carry on with me and pack the rest in my suitcase. I wear my glasses on the plane because my contacts dry out in the air. With dailies you don't need a bottle of solution because you throw them out at the end of the day.

Yes, contact lens solution is considered a medical accessory. At least before this latest Christmas fiasco. I would check on the airline website - they should list the permitted stuff. Whenever I fly, I take the travel size lens solution, which is 3 oz or whatever the limit is for liquids, and pack my big bottle in my checked luggage.

I have contacts as well, and I ALWAYS have them with me in my carry-on. I have monthly pairs, so I have to bring the cleaning solution with me as well. I found out this past summer that the solution is actually considered to be a "essential non-prescription medication", so you are allowed to bring it on with you.

Here's the link to the CATSA site for more information:

Hope this helps! :)
