My DD will be starting solid foods by the end of this month. Not sure how I am going to carry baby food. Is there a microwave at the food court or something that I can heat up a bit to feed her? DH thinks she can eat off our plate, but I know with my 1st, I was so 'following the book' due to allergies etc (she still ended up with eczema, mind you), that I won't be able to feed her our food for a while. Wonder if baby food comes in plastic containers any more? Or would I have to carry glass jars:confused3 Or maybe I would need to stop at a Walmart after all:banana:

I took older ds at 10 months but he was still completely on jarred foods. We just did a grocery stop before the hotel. The U.S. seems to have a much better selection of jarred foods and baby foods than here. Just beware of some that have lots of added salt and sugar.Have fun!!

Stopping at a grocery store is probably your best bet. As for heating it up, I'm sure there will be lots of places with hot water available. I always heated up babyfood in the jar in a mug of boiling water. My kids weren't particularly picky about how warm their food was, and hot water is always easy to come by.

When we took our daughter at 9 mths old, she was still eating baby food (toddler food with larger chunks). We had a car at that time so we were able to go to a grocery store, and get some food.

We also had a 1 bedroom DVC resort room, so it does have a kitchen.

However, at the parks, for lunch and snacks, she was able to eat the food from the jar without having to heat it up. But a few times we did use a container and filled it with hot water and put the jar in it for a few seconds.

For dinner, we ate at table service restaurants and in most cases, i was able to get a few things to share with her. Anything soft and mushable was good, as well as chopped up chicken (as long as it didn't have too much spices) was also fine for her.

We did find that we fed her more fresh fruits during our visit because she seemed hungrier for snacks than usually (maybe the heat or the fact that she had lots of outdoor activities).

As I mentioned on another post, I do believe that the Epcot Baby centre used to sell baby food there as well.

We were there with my ds who was 10 months back in Dec. Each park has a couple of baby changing areas. In there they sell baby food in jars, diapers, wipers etc.... We would buy a couple of jars for the day and he would eat it up there, they have microwaves to heat it up. We would take a couple back for the hotel room where we heated it up with hot water.

Pretty simple

Wow, I did not know they sell baby food on-site, that's great to know.:yay: That takes care of that then.

There are microwaves in teh food courts there are also baby feeding stations in teh parks. Ours starte their trips to Disney at 8 months old all driving trips and we never had any problems. As for the following the book for kids we never did in respect to foods and all our kids started eating peanutbutter at an early age and not one kid has any food allergies I think keeping them from it for longer periods is what adds to the allergies IMHO.

If you do a grocery shop Gerber sells a 2 pack in plastic containers of baby food. Much easier than fiddling with glass.

Also if you are just carrying the food it will be room temperature and I never bothered to try and heat it on the go. If we were near a microwave yes, if not I didn't bother.

Thanks for this! When 1st DD was born, they stopped selling Gerber up here, now I see it again. I'll check into this. However, with all the talk about plastic and BPA, wonder if they still have them.:confused3 But I agree, plastic would be so much easier to carry than glass, plus we are staying at BUF before leaving, so might have to pick some up there instead.

If you get the plastic kind, heat in a cup of hot water. Plastic should not be microwaved.

The plastic containers could be reused for cheerios and other little snacks.

We took most of ds food in the plane. I guess since he was our second child, I didn't fuss as much as I did for my first, so I fed him room temperature baby food while on vacation. At home I made his food myself from fresh organic produce. But on vacation we cheated and brought Gerbers with us and he was really into Spagghios in the states. Disney restaurants will try to help out too and make something special for baby. I nursed him too so milk was never a problem. Babies are REALLY resiliant on vacation and easy travellers. Have a great time! Blessings, Sandra

Great idea on re-using...less to bring back home, plus even if it gets lost, no problem. Thanks!

I'll be breastfeeding too, so that takes care of one thing.

We went last year when my son was 7 months old. I bought alot of the gerber food in the US but found that the food there was really good and would give him that as well. I had to watch what he ate as he was a premie but didn't have a problem.

The plastic containers are great to take in... what kinds of food did your first one have a reaction to?? some food are not recommended for under 1 or even 2 yrs of age. I have 4 children...1st child my mother (not by my choice) fed my daughter mashed potatoes at 6weeks or 8weeks....NO allergies at all... my last two kids...i waited till they were 6months and give them bananas and squash..really simple things and we also had no problems... He recently started developed a reaction to someone of the bath products (if you want the names I will let you know which ones..don't want to post it directly on here so that get in trouble for telling the truth..lol).. After stopping the products and switching to something more natural, their skin is amazing.
