We may be going to Disney first week in December this year. I have 11, 7, and will be 13 month old. Orlando is a 16 hour drive. Has anyone travelled this far with baby this age. Any advice. Are we crazy? Do you think it would be worth it to wait another year or should we go ahead and try it.

I have never driven that far with a 13 month old. We took our son when he was one but we flew and the flight was about 2 1/2 hours. My advice would be to drive at night (if you are able) and stop half way through to stay overnight to break up the time on the road. Also, plan to stop several times (maybe at a park or somewhere that the kids can exert some energy). I am a stickler about my kids NEVER getting out of carseats/seatbelts when driving. I know that kids can get restless after a long time in a car. You might want to really think this one over. 16 hours is a long time.

Where do you live in Southern IL? We drove from Tuscola area and it took us 3 days, we stopped in Murfreesboro and Lake CIty FL on the way down, and Atlanta and Tuscola on the way back. We live in Chicago SUburbia. They are long days. We travelled about 8-13 hours for the first 2 days and 3 hours the third day. IT all depends on how your little one is at travelling.

We drove down with a 3 month old, and it was tough. We are planning drive in December with our then 13 month old as well. 22 hours straight through. Tylenol and Dr. Pepper will be two of my best friends. I just hope that the baby will be able to watch movies with the rest of the kids.

My 15 month old is a trooper and has been on sevreal long (8 hour) trips he does great! We just bukle him in and off we go. One thing we do is eat breakfast and then get in the car and go. Four hours later my kids are hungry so we pull into McD's or BK and spend an hour in playland. Good luck you will either have a bay that is easy to travel with or not. My kids are easy.
