OKW Lovers Thread. Part 2

Inquiring minds wonder why HH buildings are the same point "cost", yet the equivalent buildings (closer to the main building and FF) at SSR are more points? Was there a time when all the rooms at OKW "cost" the same points? Then when the resort was split into 2 building categories was there something that prevented OKW from changing the points for some buildings? Although I do remember staying at SSR once in Congress Park when all of SSR point values were the same. However, that was way back when Congress Park was one of just a few buildings available. Not much of the resort had been completed yet, so maybe when the entire resort was completed, SSR was split into 2 categories. Anyone remember?
Yes, the HH booking category was created after the resort had been open a while, and the points just never got an adjustment. But it seems to be working fine as is.

When my 11 month window opened up for early December, could not book HH. People walked :(

Many employees park in the parking lot by the marketplace/main lobby limiting spaces (not just guests using pool or marketplace).

I hope they don't make the HH category more expensive, like it is at SSR. I don't know how the SSR owners put up with that!
On the positive, IF they do increase points for near HH (I also hope they don't, even though I rarely book it) the rest of the resort would adjust to a few points lower. But, honestly, I just don't think they will adjust it this late in the game for a 2042 resort, even with some extensions to 2057. I didn't extend, as I have no direct heirs, and by 2057, I'll be 98 years old, or more likely, no longer functioning within normal parameters.

The category “split” at OKW seems to have been done the same easy way as the BWV split, where the Preferred view category was split into BW view and P/G view without any changes in point costs. So no need to make sure total points for the resort remained the same.

When SSR was split though they did change points. Maybe the arithmetic was easier at SSR than at OKW, or they had a math-whiz intern who loved the challenge of increasing the points costs of villas in some buildings while decreasing in a larger number of other buildings and still keeping the total number of points for SSR the same.

Hmm, something just occurred to me. When did the increase in SSR Treehouse points happen in relation to the preferred and standard split? Were they done together? Did 2BR points change when Treehouse points were increased?

2017 is when they introduced Standard and Preferred.

These are for a week during Christmas
2021 Points rose about 10 for 2 bedrooms in both categories and 5 points for GV and Treehouses (Studios and 1 bedrooms also increased somehow)
2023 They lowered standard GV by about 2 and lowered preferred GV by around 5.

I saw the coffee post and I also was looking at OKW 1 bed villa specifically and it says Nespressos are in the room. Is that true? Is it pods and which ones?

Second question - I've been outrageously fortunate to be in either the specific bldgs. or the area that I request over the last 30+ years. Does anyone ever put where they don't want to be in their 3 comments e.g. "No Millers Pond"?

(I buy Starbucks iced coffee at the grocery store so I do not use the coffee maker hence my ignorance)

No I'm not sure where you saw that. They have been putting in the Keurig Duos that allows you to brew a full pot or use a K-Cup for individual servings of coffee

I have not.

I always have been impressed with the OKW cast members as they always do a great job (for us anyways) at assigning us to our requested building.
Other resorts they just seem to ignore the requests it seems like.

As I mentioned over in the coffee makers thread, we’re pretty sure that’s a typo. So far, haven’t seen any actual reports of people having a Nespresso at OKW (or anywhere else)

@ILoveMyDVC it seems the majority of the 1 bedrooms state nespresso except for Poly. The resort & Preferred view have no mention and the Theme Park 1 bedroom just state "coffee maker"

LOL. If you look, you’ll see it’s not just a DVC glitch. Yesterday, I posted some screenshots in another thread of the same Nespresso amenity at All Stars and Caribbean Beach Resort. They won’t even spring for Keurigs or a decent drip pot there, so I’m fairly confident that unless we see a major sponsorship announcement in the next few days that totally shakes up the WDW coffee world (‘cause Joffreys doesn’t make a Nespresso pod) then it’s just a typo.
