Hi, my family and I are travelling all the way from Australia to WDW from 16th June 08 - 30 June 08. It will be myself, my husband and our 4 kids. Looking for some tips on how to stay on a budget..airfares from Australia already sending us broke...:rotfl: Anyway, considered camping, but seems impossible for the camp equipment from Australia. Any idea's or specials you know of? Any help or advise appreciated. thanks heaps

Donna,
Welcome! Your family will have a great time at WDW.

There is another site, www.mousesavers.com that came help you with some of the prices. With 6 people your motel choices are limited.

You could still camp, FW rents tents and I think some equipment. You could order some basic equipment online and have it deleivered to FW - spread over two weeks the cost/day might work. When you leave, you could ship some home, give some away and trash some.

There is a lady on the boards that rents her 5th wheel at FW. You should be able to "search" and find her.

You'll need to compare the $$ to see which is most budget friendly.

Good Luck,

David

The Fort does rent and set up tents as David said, and you can have groceries sent to you there. You can mail other needs to yourself...or as he said rent a camper but they are expensive!not sure what the local lady rents hers out for...hope you have a very magical trip! Janet:hippie:

You really should make some type of reservation if you will be coming in June of this year. All schools in the US are out by then. Have a wonderful trip to the US and WDW!

The lady that rents her 5th wheel camper is Tina, the website to see it and get prices is www.campatthefort.com

Take a look, it is a beautiful big camper that is full stocked, and set up and ready to go. All you need is your clothes and some food, and that can be delivered.

Have a great time, you will love it.

There is ANOTHER DISer that also rents a pop-up camper....much smaller than the 5th wheel that Tina rents, but still very nice and sleeps 6-8 people. Her website is http://greatoutdoorscamperrental.com/. The savings options are out there, and you came to a great source to find them....the DIS boards has every bit as much information as mousesavers, at the VERY TOP of this page, you'll see a link to WDWinfo.com..there you will find everything youve ever wanted to know about Disney and more!!!
Enjoy your U.S. and WDW visit, g'day mate!!!

I think the least expensive option would be to rent a car for one day, (you can rent from Alamo or National at the airport and then drop it at the Swan/Dolphin, or TTC on Disney property. Make a Wal-Mart run and get what you need. Tents can be had for less than $100 that would last through your trip. Pack what you can within your luggage allowance, of things that you can bring with you, then purchase the rest and be prepared to give away or dispose. go disposable with paper plates, silverware, etc. For cooking utensils, get those cheap aluminum disposable baking dishes, and lots of aluminum foil. (Hobo meals, etc.). Cooling perishables will be your hardest challenge. Ice is expensive at the Fort, and coolers that keep the cold are expensive. Perhaps consider meals that don't need refridgeration. Soups, oatmeal, breakfast bars, tuna lunches, there are some decent box dinners that include meat. Might be possible to adapt those to cooking over charcoal.

Hi all, thanks for the advise you all gave. I know I am leaving things until the last minute. I will take a look at the RV's to rent and look at Walmart online for costs etc. We are really looking forward to our once in a lifetime trip. Donna
