Hi! I have a question for all the experts out there about cruising. I have never cruised before but love everything disney and have book the Double Scoop May 06.

I will be traveling with my two children, but my husband (their father) is not going. I am trying to change his mind slowly but if I am not successful, will I have a problem with customs if I travel with the kids without him? Will I need any documentation from him that it is okay to basically take the children out of the country?

Maybe I am paranoid but I just wondered......

You shouldn't have a problem, but the simple solution is to write up a letter and have it notorized saying that your DH is fine with taking the kids out of country. Your bank should notorize it for free.

When your documents come, they include a page for non-cutodial parents to sign and notarize. This might also work for you.

I'd have something signed by him just to be safe.

Of course now that you bring this up I'm panicking. DH might not be able to go on our cruise this weekend :( and he might not know until Friday!!! If it's that last minute, I don't know how easily we could get a letter notarized!!

ivanova,
Why don't you have a letter notarized now, just in case? Then if he can't go you have it; if he can go, just throw it away.

Tammy, I hope you are able to convince him. My dh was skeptical but loved it and we now only like to cruise on DCL!!!

If you can not convince him, have him take a look at the post about falling in love on board!!! LOL!!!! It talks about all the cute CM's.

Hey, it might be a little sneaky, but if it works it would be worth it!!!!

Okay, now you're just applying logic to the situation :teeth:
Good idea....

My sister and I took two of my boys just this past weekend. I got a letter notarized, but never needed it. I basically wrote the same info that was on the form in the cruise docs. We have the same last name, so no one even questioned. But I felt it was better to be safe than sorry.

How do they know that there's a father/husband involved at all? I can't see Disney demanding that you present a two parent family.

I called up DCL yesterday to ask about this. I am divorced and taking my 2 children on the cruise. I have passports for them and our last names are diff. (mine is in my maiden name)
They said no problem, nobody will even question you. I also know of a friend who took his 2 children with him on the cruise. His wife couldn't go. He said someone just asked where the mom was and he said she was home and they asked the kdis if this was true. They aid yes and everyone boarded no problems.

In January 04 I took two of my kids on the Western (Hubby and youngest stayed home). We are not divorced, but I did bring a letter from him just in case. No one ever asked me anything about the kids with one parent - so no problem. We had a wonderful time without them! Sounds terrible, but my Hubby does not like cruises and my youngest is afraid of new things and very shy - won't go into playgroups, etc... so this worked out best for our family. Have a great time!
