I am going down to Universal Orlando with one of my best friends. He hapens to be a Pooh sized man. I am so concerned about him riding attractions I called Universal and they gave me a vauge (we won't know until he tries) well he get easly imbarrised and its not my intention to go on vacation and imbarris my friend or to have him feel down while on vacation about something that he honestly doesn't have much controll over (thyroid function)

I was wondering if any of the Pooh sized fans have tried riding Forgotten Journey since they have modified the seats? Also what rides at Universal will be pretty much a 100% garuntee? I decided if he can't ride I won't. We are coming from Atlanta and this will be the only time I get to see WWOHP I told him I just want to see the environent and enjoy the ambiance. What do you think we should do? Help me with this if you have any experiance.

Thanks,
Kyle

Come on guys! I really need help. Iam going to Universal for the first time in twelve years for HHN and to see the parks I'm leaving next monday.

I haven't been to WWoHP yet, but I understand that it can be difficult for persons 300+ pounds with a belly/chest measurement of over 50 inches to ride. There is a "test seat" in front of the ride so people can see whether they think they will fit before going in. Either way, I'm told that the walk through the castle is an attraction in and of itself, and there is an exit before the ride, so you and your friend could at least see all the nifty things in Hogwarts.

If you scroll futher down this message board, you will find a threat called "Info on who fits/who does not - for FJ". This thread has a LOT of postings that you might find helpful.

The castle is amazing! Even if your friend can't ride it is definitely worth a walk through.:thumbsup2

Make sure your friend tries the test seats out front of attractions to make sure there won't be any problems when boarding. Test seating is located at the entrance queues of: Forbidden Journey, Hulk, Dragon Challenge, Dr. Doom at IOA and Revenge of the Mummy at the Studios. I doubt the Rockit will be running so you won't have to worry about doing that attraction.

You'll have a blast at HHN this year...Sunday will be my fourth time and I still get excited to go. ;)

Well, he surely knows that he's a bigger guy. And what I've found with my husband, who has a prolactinoma that caused him to gain in bulk even as he lost pounds, and it makes it VERY hard for him to lose weight until the pituitary tumor is gone (though he's doing it!), is that the medical condition actually makes him feel less bad about his size...it's not under his control to the extent that, say, my weight is under my control.

But no matter what, I'm sure your friend, like my hubby, knows that he's a bigger guy. And if he is easily embarrassed, it's really better if you gently and kindly make sure he knows, ahead of time, that some rides are going to be difficult, and possibly impossible, for him.

It does sound as though the Universal employees are all very kind about it, and I know that knowing that has helped hubby feel better. He knows that Disneyland CMs are very nice about it (even if fellow guests on one ride were absolutely cruel :sad1:...don't tell your friend that, by the way), and he's sure WDW CMs will be nice, and it makes it better for him.

Hubby will be happy with just the castle, if that's all he can do (though from what I've read, the modified seats might just allow him to ride, if he can squeeze his shoulders in enough while still allowing the restraint to come down, cross fingers, but the pituitary tumor has made his top half much bigger than it "should" be), and I'd rather have him thinking that than knowing NOTHING about the place. Forewarned is forearmed, and it's best for your friend to know from his friend, rather than at the ride.
