HI, I need some words of encouragement.....we leave in 15 days for 6 days and 7 nights at WDW and I'm starting to get worried about how our babies will do.
I have been planning this trip since last July when they were 5 months old and have been super excited about it. We are planning on sticking to the babies' schedules (naps, meals, bedtime, etc.) but the nights are what scares me. They have never slept anywhere except in their cribs and we have the wonderful blessing of them going right to sleep when we lay them down at night and close the door...no rocking.
So, any past WDW bedtime experiences that anyone would like to share is welcome. Thank you so much![]()
How old are the kids again..
I will tell you the first time we took our twins they were 10 months old. We stayed at a friends house. Next time they were about a year and a half not even. We stayed at the Grand Floridian. The kids hated the cribs for such a nice hotel the cribs were metal and rattled every time they moved. They cried themselves to sleep every night I though for sure they would be soo very tired they would crash hard. They took there naps fine in them.. But after a few nights of crying and thinking we were going to get kicked out of the hotel..LOL... We finally set up pillows and let them sleep in the bed there were two in the room...
Next trip was to the Swan/Dolphin and they slept in the bed with pillows all around them. They slept wonderful naps, and at night time....
If you can get pack n plays instead of the old rickety metal cribs you will be fine. But the bumpers etc. were old and I was soo very thankfull I had brought my own crib sheets.....
Thanks for the advice! They are 13 months old now. I never even thought about letting them sleep in the other bed. We will be staying at the SOG and I know they have both the pack n plays and cribs. If it comes down to it, our Ds (7) can sleep on the sleeper sofa (thank goodness they have one in the room) and the babies can take his bed. Thanks, Kritter![]()
We did a Halloween cruise last year. The kids loved it they were four years old.
We loved the whole cruising thing...The kids were not thrilled about the club they wanted to be with us and in the pool with their friends...
The islands were great..
Other questions ask away....
My cruise report should be in these pages somewhere....

Bummer...
so we're hoping to emblazon some lounges in the Adults area with our names, we'll see...
Hello all, haven't checked in in a while. Hope all's well. We're fine...
Our first WDW trip was when our twins were 3yo. We were a little torn between their need for sleep and all the excitement, but they still managed to get in their quiet time whether it was back in the room or a power nap in the stroller or car seats. Nights were fine in the second bed in the room. They crashed hard at night. DH and I remember carrying them, sleeping, up the stairs to the third floor every night (we later learned to request ground floor, our preference). I can't speak for younger than 3yo but I'm sure you'll all be fine...
It's amazing how time flies. They'll be 10 this fall so our summer trip will be the last time we get to pay "child rate" for them for tickets and dining plan, etcBummer...
We'll be doing our 4th Disney Cruise this summer along with 4 nights at WDW. They turned 6yo on the first day of our very first cruise. They were a little shy about going in the kids club then, wanted to be with us which was fine. Luckily friends had an older DD and she took them to a show one night so the adults could enjoy one dinner at Palo. Second cruise, they were fine in the clubs, in large part I think because they knew what to expect and they were also turning 7yo. Last cruise my son had his best friend along and my DD felt left out so had us paged a lot, LOL. This year we're going with a big crowd of friends as well as DH's parentsso we're hoping to emblazon some lounges in the Adults area with our names, we'll see...
I'd go with the expectation your kids will probably not want to spend too much time in the clubs, and if they surprise you, then that's great. If you have any friends or family members who want to cruise with you, it would be nice to "trade off" for some adult time, but if not, you'll still have a nice vacation. One family cruising with us has a 1yo so it will be my first experience (sort of) with Flounder's Nursery.
Have fun planning, everyone!![]()
Kritter,
How did your kids like disney at almost 1 1/2? I have triplet boys that we are thinking of taking in Nov. and they will be 20 months at that point. I'd love to hear your experience/suggestions. We are planning on driving so I think we are going to bring all the pack n plays for them to sleep in. I'm afraid to put them in the beds as they tend to be all over the place in their cribs when they sleep. My husband says they get that from me!![]()
I know they most likely will not remember the trip but I'm hoping they will at least have a good time and it won't be too stressful. Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated!![]()
I seem to recall the room was pretty spacious. There might not be enough room to keep them all together, but I'd think you'd be able to fit them in. What about asking them to take the daybed out for your stay (I'm almost positive there was a daybed). We're used to tight spaces so small rooms don't bother us. I know some people need more room.Pea-N-Me,
I noticed you've stayed at the Yacht Club. That's where we'll be staying. Do you think it's roomy enough to fit 3 pack n plays? Should I try to upgrade to a Jr. Suite?
Thanks!

Have never been to CJ's. Ohana is one of our favorites, but haven't been there since the new menu. I love the atmosphere, kids have a ball. Take some time to hang out at the Poly, walk the grounds, beautiful at night with torches lit, etc.. maybe watch EWP from there.![]()
The waitress was good and knew they were a bit shy, so she just stopped the whole restaurant, had them stand up, made an announcement, then everyone sang HB to them. They enjoyed that and I got it on video. I wish I could post it here, so cute! (I could tell another story but I don't want to ruin anyone's fun... The first time we went there we had lunch, and that was funny too. We had no clue!)
Sci Fi Drive In is supposed to be fun, had to change our ADR last time so didn't get to try it (food so-so supposedly). Same with Le Cellier, had to change ADR. Those are a few I can think of...
