traveling with multiples!!

Hi! I am new to the Dis board and I was so happy when I found this thread. I am a SAHM to 4...ds 7, dd 4, b/g twins 3. I am planning a trip for the end of September into October. I am hoping to get a timeshare offer so that we can stay in a big place for as few $$$ as possible. I have also looked into AAA rates at both Fort Wilderness Cabins and 2 adjoining rooms at ASM. In addition, I have checked out some off site "suite" hotels. Has anyone with large families had good luck with these types of rooms?

Anyway, back on the topic of mutiples...I find it goes in cycles with my twins. We go through a few weeks of everyone happy and cooperative, and then the 3 year olds go through really cranky spells :headache: that could last 1-2 weeks. I am just trying to keep my patience and get through the crazy times. My husband thinks that the kids (esp. twins) are too young for Disney trip...but I disagree. :rolleyes2 It is such a magical place...just right for my high energy kids. Also, my 7 year old has never really gone on a real vacation. My 4 year old and girl twin are such princess fans...I think it would be a great trip.

It was great finding this thread and I am looking forward to checking back often.

Enjoy,
Pamela

Pamela

Have you considered renting a townhome or condo? They run around $600 a week for a 3 bedroom, full kitchen and washer/dryer.

Definiltey look into off-site houses - we rented one the last time - 4 bedrooms and a pool & it was a lot cheaper!

Congrats that is awesome when are you going????

Headed down 9/29 - 10/8. Staying offsite at Grande Vista for at least 10/1 - 10/8. May try to use DVC for the first two nights. DDS want to do MNSSHP so I guess we're going!

Pamela - check the Marriott website for an offer at Grande Vista. DVC will be hard to come by as it is low points season and Food & Wine festival.

On another note, have any of you ever gone to the Twins Festival in OH? DDs want to go this year, which is funny, because most of the time they turn their noses up at anything to do with being twins.

Thanks all for your suggestions about houses to rent. Do you go with a certain real estate company or someone else. I really am now to this.

Yes Kritter, please add me to your list. I am so happy to be part of this. It is fun and special to have multiples....

Another quick question...What is the Micky Halloween Party? Does it occur when the park is closed? Do you need advanced reservations? Thanks in advance for the info.

I'll keep in touch about my plans!

Howis everyones summer going?? Staying cool?? Got any great summer recipes that we could all share????

I'm still here. I'm nearly cooked in Kansas...it's been well over 100 every day for the past week I think. We've been spending a lot of time in the pool! I spend my time in the pool or on the disboards planning for my September trip. I'm counting the days! :hourglass

I hope all of you are having a great summer!

Hello everyone! I started a thread on the restaurants board about where to dine with my 2 year old triplets, but kritter suggested I ask here as well, so I thought I'd ask the experts! We are headed to the Grand Floridian December 1-9, here's what I have so far with the help of the folks on the restaurant board...

Day 1: 1900 Park Fare dinner (we will be arriving this day so I want to keep dinner at the hotel to keep things simple.)

Day 2: Little Einsteins dinner at Hollywood and Vine

Day 3: ???

Day 4: Kona Cafe Dinner

Day 5: Crystal Palace dinner

Day 6: Whispering Canyon dinner

Day 7: ???

Day 8: Grand Floridian Cafe

Day 9: Chef Mickey's breakfast before departure

Are these appropriate restaurants for energetic 2 year olds? Do I have too many character meals? I tried to space them out, but I don't know. This is our first trip, so any and all advice is greatly, greatly appreciated!

I am here too!- Just been really busy. We just got back from myrtle beach and had lots of fun- but it was over too soon! But I guess it is that way with any vacation. the girls are busy swimming and growing like weeds! What is it about summer that brings on those growth spurts? Hope everyone is doing well!

Glad everyone is doing well..I hear you we spend almost every day swimming tooo!! The summer is busy..

Triplets WOW...Have you thought about doing the crystal palace with winnie the pooh fun and the food is good too...??? The kids will love the little parade they do with the characters took my twins there when they were 10 months and they loved it...

Also I thought the whispering canyon was loud and my kids really did not care for the noise there just a thought...

How about a place at Downtown disney?? would you want to try and eat there...fun stuff for the kids to do there. and you could get some shopping done too...!!!!

It's been a busy summer here too. All of the kids had 2 weeks of swimming lessons then after that we started spending a lot of time at the pool. They still haven't mastered swimming but I figure the more we practice the better they will become.

Yesterday was our first day of school and also the twins first day of kindergarten. We go to year round school and kindergarten is all day. They seemed to have done o.k. and didn't come home crying so I think that's a good sign. I requested that they be in the same classroom so I think that really helps them a lot so they at least have a buddy and don't feel so alone at school.

I also went back to work after being home for seven years, I'm working part time up at the school as a recess paraeducator, three hours a day, the hours are perfect and I'll get to see the kids at recess. Day one is over, so far, so good, the extra $$ will be good to save for our next Disney trip. :teeth:

Lisa-WOW, school is all year round for your kids. How do you like that? I'm glad the school will work with you and let you choose to keep your twins in the same class. Our schools didn't do that. They were able to stay together in Kindergarten, but after that they were split until high school. It caused numerous problems that the schools didn't understand. They did much better when they were back together. I think it is best for the parents to work with the schools and make the decision...not just a policy that works for some but not others. OK...time to get off of my high horse! :teacher: :teacher:

Enjoy your summers.
