traveling with multiples!!

:rotfl2: LOL LOL LOL We on the other hand all ready had a girl who was 4 and when we found out we were having twins I thought my DH was going to CROAK when they said it was 2 more girls :rotfl2: He held out to the very end that one MIGHT be a boy.... but was very happy with 3 little princesses-

My husband was Mr Mom for almost 2 years- I was to only one healthy enough to work after the babies he got injured at work and his father became terminally ill with brain cancer ( we all lived together) so I worked midinghts in a nursing home and he stayed home- I would come come from work get everyone fed and ready.... DH to physical therapy, dd to preschool, FIL to chemo and the little ones just up and fed. then I would do some house work and stay up for a little while till everyone came home then I would get go to sleep..My husband was amazing through all of those night feedings and he too can put hair bows in and paint fingernails- We really learned team work after we had our twins and our marriage became much stronger.
SOmetimes I look back and I will never know how I did that. God really does have a sense of humor.

Had to laugh about the posts and the gender surprises. We were told it was a B/G during the 20 week ultrasound (less than 2 minutes after they told us it was twins!), but I was in too much shock over the idea of twins to really care what gender they were. That ultrasound was on Friday, October 13, 2000--and Friday the 13th will never be the same to me again!

I had another ultrasound again on Friday, February 23, 2001 to check the babies' position, and they indicated the girl was lower down with the boy on top. Less than 24 hours later, I was in labor. Of course I expected the girl to come out first, so when the doctor yelled, "It's a boy!" I was devestated--I thought they had made a mistake during the ultrasounds and both twins were boys! Fortunately, baby #2 came 15 minutes later and she had all the right parts! :goodvibes

We're still not sure how they could have switched positions in such a crowded uterus in less than 24 hours without me noticing the movement. We joke that DD must have shoved DS out first, to make him check out what it was like. That would fit her personality perfectly! :p

Hello everyone, Now that I have met so many twin parents I need advice. We have just under six months until our cruise and we haven't started potty training. Did you potty train both children at the same time? The girls are 2.5 years old(going on 21). I think Jenna is ready, but, Janna would prefer just bossing her sissy and taking care of the wipes. Any advice would be greatly apprechiated.

I'll take a stab at it. In my experience it is best to wait until each child is ready even if it means it's not at the same time. My DS was ready long before DD so we started with him. DD saw he was getting rewarded so she wanted to try too. It took a long time to get DD fully trained because she wasn't really ready, she just was jealous of the competition! ;) So you could start with the one that's ready and see what happens. FWIW, some of my fellow mothers of twins felt differently and started with both at the same time. Only you know your kids best, give it some thought and then make a decision. Good luck! :tink:

I agree, you know your children best and decide how to go about it, but we started to train our twins at different times. Our DD was ready before our DS was, so we started with her. We had a "potty chart" and she got to put a happy face sticker :) on the chart with every success. When DS saw his sister's chart with the stickers, he wanted one too! And it did become a friendly competition between them.

It was so hilarious to see the different charts--DD would smack a sticker anywhere on the page, she didn't care. DS (who is very anal) would make sure all his stickers were lined up neatly within the boxes, and were separated by colors (red on one line, yellow on another, etc.). We didn't need names on those charts to tell whose was whose!

We also made diaper changes unpleasant. If they needed a diaper change, they had to go get the diaper and bring it to us, and then the wipes, and then the changing pad, etc. Then they had to go put everything away when we were done. It saved them a whole lot of time and energy to just use the potty.

I think trying to potty train a child before they're ready can backfire at times. I thought my oldest DD was ready at 18 months--I mistook her casual curiosity with the toilet and bodily functions for something more, and it took almost a year before she was reliably trained. I didn't bother even trying until oldest DS was practically begging--and he had it in 2 days (ironically at about the same age as DD had finally got it down).

I think the biggest advice is to not sweat it. Potty training can very frustrating at times, but they will eventually get it. I don't know of any college freshman still in diapers!

OMG, way too funny - I could have written that very post!! The same thing happened to us: assumed two girls, nearly :faint: when the first ultrasound showed only a "male apparatus" ;) , couldn't see the other until a later ultrasound when we found out she was a girl. :thumbsup2 I remember the feeling driving home the day we saw just the one boy and realized I could be having two boys! :scared1: :scared1: (For the record, the moment my little boy snuggled into my neck when he was born I fell completely in love with him and I couldn't believe I ever felt the way I'd felt. :confused3 I'm so glad God gave me that beautiful little boy, so I have to agree He knows what He's doing).

One of my favorite photos of my tired little guy after a busy day at Castaway Cay! :fish:

That's a great strategy! :teacher:

Thanks, kritter. :)

Good evening!
Pea-n-me: Just wanted to telll you how impressed/inspired whatever to read about what you have done. We really were dreading having to make any of those decisions but honestly, when they discuss that part you are sooo excited that you blow by it. Later, as you move along in the process, it becomes a very real possibility, and then you mull over it, mull over it, mull over it. In our case, it became of no concern because there were no embryos left (with our history our DR decided to transfer all 5 viable-which only became a big concern when the blood test showed multiple!) Anyway, I applaud your decision and only wish that in the same circumstances I could be so giving! I hope they have a beautiful, healthy, well-loved baby girl.

Thank you, I appreciate your kind words. It wasn't an easy decision, but it was the right one for us. What made it work was the wonderful embryo adoption program we used. Here's the info for anyone who might be interested. Snowflakes

Bumping us up do not want our thread to die out.....

My guys seems so big now I can't believe it. It just seems like yesterday when thay were in diapers, starting preschool, 1st day of kindergarten, oh stop me before I start blubbering!!! Anyway enjoy your next trip, not sure when we will get back.
Kritter, great picture! They are adorable, and look like very distinct personalities ( what a surprise- ha ha) Have a great evening!!!

Hi All - great picture kritter. Even I can see the girls are growing up!! :lovestruc

Tara, we are doing the Eastern in less than 3 weeks! :sail:  Your kids are cuties. What's life like with triplets? Has it gotten a little better now that they're almost 4? :confused3

We went to WDW in 2003 with our triplet daughters they were 8 at the time.
We are going again this July. One thing we did was dress them alike. That way you can spot them easier if one of them gets seperated. I would probably does this even if they were not triplet's. We are going to be staying at Shades of Green for 6 nights then going on 4 day Carnival cruise.

TripletDad :)

Everyone's kids are so cute!

Even with ALL the normal struggles with parenting it is just so amazing to see them grow mentally and physically every day.

Welcome to all of the new comers...

So sorry that my picture is so large will need to fix that now..We jsut went to picture people on Sat.. they were so good...

I agree everyone's children are so beautiful

Linda you will have to let me know what I should not miss on the cruise, we are getting very excited, how old are your kids? I think alot of it is much easier, except for the fighting. I feel like it is all day long sometimes, and I want to give myself a tiem out in a quiet corner :teeth:
