traveling with baby

we are going to disney in december with my new baby cousin. she will only be about 6 1/2 months old . I know we will be going to magic kingdom . But what rides do you think she will be able to go on . What should we pack for her .
Any tips would be great.

I took my now 16 year old daughter to Disney when she was 10 months. The only ride which didn't overwhelm her was "It's a Small World." My hubby & I switched off most of the time. I also brought my own stroller, which had enough room for my well stocked diaper bag. I brought plenty of diapers, sunscreen, formula, a change of clothes, baby wipes, binkies- just about everything. It was a lot of stuff to lug around, but that's why we brought our own stroller cos I knew I would be able to stash everything I needed in it. Everyone thought I was crazy for bringing all that stuff, but in the end, I was glad I did cos she spit up. Disney has baby changing stations all over the park, but I saved a lot of money bringing my own stuff. We were able to get baby food at all of the restaurants. Good luck!

We took our grandson early this year and will be bringing our new grandchild (not born yet!) next May.
The baby centers are great for alittle down time to feed/nurse or cool off. Each park has one.
The People MOver at Magic Kingdom was nice. Buzz Lightyear was enjoyable. We took him on anything that was allowed and he never fussed ONCE with any of them. The train that goes around the park, pirates of the caribbean didn't phase him either, even Peter Pan! It was great! At this age, they aren't walking yet, so it's easier than you think. At Epcot, Imagination, Nemo, spaceship earth, the ride in the boat where Soarin' is...the name escapes me. All fun and easy. Best of luck!

When we traveled to Disney when my nieces were small, we always brought their covered stroller. Also brought a large beach towel in w/us. We would use the beach towel to cover the stroller and that way they wouldn't get disturbed if they fell asleep. It helped to create a more peaceful environment for them to sleep. It's amazing how well it worked. Our stoller had the pull-out basket underneath, so it was also great to stash the adults stuff too.

I highly recommend a backpack carrier. We did that with all three of our children. They loved riding there and we were able to ride most of the kid rides (Winnie, Peter, Small...) with out even taking them off our back. It was fantastic and they LOVED being able to look around.

Same here. Our 5-month-old son was able to ride quite a few rides with us, and he enjoyed it all.

We took our now 2 1/2 year old when she was 9 months old, and we'll be taking our newest in Septmeber, when he'll be 5 1/2 months old. With Mackenzie, I kept her in the sling most of the time, and she did just fine. Keeping a baby close helps prevent he/she becoming overwhelmed with the sights and sounds. We'll be wearing William in the sling too on our upcoming trip. Babies like to be close to their parents.

Make sure to bring a few wide-brimmed hats, some chemical free sunscreen (California Baby makes a GREAT sunscreen, its expensive but its better than baby being exposed to chemicals at a young age and it protects tender skin against burns), a blanket to drape over stroller when baby is in there sleeping, a few toys, plenty of diapers and wipes, a sippy cup if she's using one, and a bib. I forgot a bib when we took Mackenzie!

Backpacks are easier to deal with than a diaper bag.

Bring your own stroller. Disney rental strollers do not recline, and they are made of plastc. Wait, maybe the jogging-style strollers at AK are made of mesh or something...I can't remember.

Oh, one tradition we have on our children's first trip is to buy a Mickey shaped balloon from Mainstreet USA our very first day. You can't take them on the plane inflated, so we make a little slit at the botton on our last day, deflate it, fold it, and then when we get home, we hang it on the wall with poster putty. We save the string and weight, and hang that too. Its cute, and my 5.5 year old still has his on his wall!

Good question! WE are taking our 11 month old and I am so worried I will forget soemthing or not do soemthing I should!

Disney does rent infant strollers with a seat similar to those found in grocery carts, but I too would bring my own. The youngest age we ever took a baby was about 3 months old. We wore him in a front carrier most of the time. It made getting on and off rides much easier. If he/she is breastfed, it really simplifies things. If he/she is on formula, bring the little tubes of formula, one bottle, a bottle brush, and bottled water (or buy it). You don't have to worry about keeping it cool and can mix it as needed, even waiting in line. Just remember to wash the bottle after every feeding and it is always clean.

I also second the wide brimmed hat. They sell some cute baby bucket hats right inside MK and outside the gate of MGM.
