Traveling Turkeys Part 2 11/22/08

Morning All,
For the past 18 months since I booked the trip my plan has been to get to the port early, get a low boarding number, go straight to the pool to let the kids swim---basically get the vacation started! Now watching the weather it looks like it might be rainy and cool on Sat. My question is what else is there to do or what is open if we get on the ship early? I know we can eat lunch but are the kids clubs open or maybe the shops? I don't want to rush around in the morning then just have to sit somewhere on the ship until the rooms are clean.

I just checked and the weather calls for mostly sunny and 70 degrees. Too cold for the pool, but not so bad to force us inside.

Our first DCL cruise started off in the rain. Since it was our first, we just explored the ship. Because of the rain, the sailaway party was in the atrium and since it was our first, we had no idea what we were missing. It is definitely not the same as having it on deck 9.

Good Morning!
Eyes popped open at 4am and that was it for me!
This is my last day of work but I'm only staying a half day. Boss is in Harrisburg but called me yesterday to tell me to leave and take today off. I have a few things that I have to do today or I wouldn't go in at all.
DH started to sort out clothes last night. Things that need washed! I guess that will be on my agenda for tomorrow. :laundy:
It's cold here - 20º and some snow showers. 70º is sounding toasty.
See yinz in a few days.
Have a great day.
Make good choices.
Be kind.
Judy

We also need some prayers and pixie dust at our house again (and this time no one was shot;) ). My DH and his father own a dairy farm together, so it's really hard to get away. Last Thursday, my FIL was put on oxygen. They've run all kinds of tests and can't find anything, but when he does any sort of physical activity, his blood oxygen drops down in the 80's. I don't think my MIL really wants us to go on this trip. The doctor said my FIL should take it easy. He has another appointment tomorrow. We don't have trip insurance, and I don't want to sail without Brian. I'm just sad and sick. I'm not even going to pack anything tonight. It's just depressing me, so I'm waiting until tomorrow night.:sad1:

Susan

Our prayers are with you Susan.

Snowing here this morning(bummer). We will be having our last part of our group arriving to terminal about 1:30 so we will try get meet by 3:00. If not we will look for green wristbands or tees.

Have a great day,

Jim

Just checking in to see how everybody is feeling. Susan how is your FIL?
Sending good thoughts to you and your family.

:goodvibes
Packed..who us? we have not even started yet....but we did find a good grab bag item...and besides who has time to pack when they are running World of Warcraft raids every night on the new material...

Chuck:cool1:

I will tell you the same thing I tell my students that come in tired every morning....."You GEEKS!!! now get to work!!" :goodvibes

The shops cannot be open while in the US port. The Kids Club is in "visitation" mode. In otherwords you can go in with the kids they can play but you need to stay. The slide is usually open, there is some coloring things and I cannot remember what else to do.

For those going to MVMCP there was a forecast today just for it on the local news. 49 is the predicted low and 71 the predicted high.

Good morning! Thank you all so much for the well wishes for my family and my FIL. We don't know anything yet, but he has another doctor's appointment this morning. I'm so nervous about what the doctor is going to say. My FIL has told my husband that he still intends to work and that he just wants my husband to have a back up plan in case something were to happen while we're gone. I don't think my MIL is going to like that one bit. I think it is all going to depend on what the doctor says today, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'll let everyone know what is going on as soon as I hear something.

The kids and I will cruise no matter what, but I have to say that I'm not nearly as excited about going with Brian. I just hope that doesn't happen.

I almost forgot to leave my grab bag gift out, so thank for the reminders! I'm not packed yet, but I do have the kids and Brian packed. I'm going to go home at lunch today, start another load of laundry, and maybe atleast get a start on my own packing.

Have a good day, and as Judy says, make good choices.:goodvibes

Unfortunately, shops don't open until 6PM. Children's Clubs will have Open House all afternoon.

Anyone else spending Friday night at Residence Inn?

Hi, I haven't been on the boards much and I think I only posted once to this thread--this is our first cruise and I feel WAY overwhelmed. We're leaving as soon as dh gets home from work today to drive to FL. YIPEE! We'll be on our way soon.

ok...it's getting worse....

I told you all yesterday about the boogies and oogies my students have coming out all over. WE have them constantly washing their hands! No yesterday there was a problem with our wated sources and we're told today that the students can't use the water for anything. No drinks and NO HAND WASHING!!!! Of course we have our purell station in the room..but that's not enough for me!! I personally think they should send the kids home. They need their water! And of course no one came in with water bottles. Poor little ones...

Luckily my dad is coming to take me out to lunch today! NOw I can give the ole hands a good scrubbing!!

ugghhhhh.....

I made Cindy's t-shirt design into a door sign and I thought I'd post it in case anyone else would like to use it.

What a predicament! I am by far a germophobic, but I have been washing my hands about 3 times what I normally do and I have DD doing the same.

Thanks Sandy,

I just printed off 2 for our doors. Looks great.

I may need another door for all of our magnets to fit.

I wonder if the folks staying in the Roy and Walt Suites would mind us decorating their doors?

Noone is sick, but now we have car trouble. Ice and snow night before last. It took me 3.5 hours to get to work and normally takes 40 minutes. Our wipers were frozen and broke. The van is in the shop now, still waiting to hear if we need a new motor for the wipers. Blew my afternoon, I was planning on loading suitcases and all so it would be done. Then tonight, Pizza, baths, and sleep (hopefully). Now who knows when we'll get loaded, or if we'll need to take the truck to DC.

Judy, how much yucky stuff did you get? We got 4.5 inches of snow and the ice under it.

Lora

Michael~ My prep is over and I can't call you until 3ish.

Questions....
Dumb one....can we bargain in the jewelry shops?

Parasailing....when 2 people go up...they're side by side right? Can you take a camera..will it get wet...anyone done this??? I know you have Teresa...answers for me????

Keep the germs away!!!!

That's it. I'm done! I came home from work and don't have to go back until 12/1!! My boss called me from Harrisburg at 11 and told me to leave everything to the other monitor and "get the hell outta there"! So I did! I have Lexington's bedding and stuffed toys in the washer getting ready for him to take to "doggie sleep away camp".

Lora - We probably got one inch or 2 of snow but it isn't sticking. It's bloody cold though. Sorry to hear about your van. I hate car troubles, especially in the winter. What time are you guys leaving?

Suzanne - just keep using the Purell, it's better than nothing. I have been washing my hands so much that I carry hand lotion in my pocket because they get so dry.

DS ordered a new hoodie and it came today. You'll be able to pick him out in a crowd. It is the most colorful thing I have seen in a long time and it has skulls all over it. He's six foot one so you can't miss him.:scared1:

Sandy - Thanks for the door sign!

Susan - Been thinking about you all morning.

HI STACIE! See you day after tomorrow!:dance3:

DH is the parasail man - it's his favorite thing to do. When 2 go up you are front and back, not side by side. You can take a camera. If it's not waterproof, tell the operators not to dunk you. Some parasail operators will take photos for you. Tim has given them a disposable to take pictures from the boat while he's in the air.
