Traveling Turkeys Part 2 11/22/08

Susan,
I certainly did hear that

I noticed you updated your signature as well. You have been busy.

Ok, take a little time off for a cold and a hurricane hits the thread and GC all at once. If only my laptop hadn't met an early demise last week, I'd be able to keep up with you all.

Yup, my second drink was a mojito and I have had 6 other drinks since that one.:thumbsup2

I'll take the mojito and the pineapple thingy please.

Hey if anyone's interested in a good website that tracks storms, check this out... http://www.stormpulse.com/

Judy, turn on Forecast Models to see the spaghetti. :)

You're ruining my impression that you just throw cold pasta at a map! wunderground.com is also a good site.

Okay nothing to do with the cruise, but it is putting things into a different light for me.

I think I have said I work for a Global School which means I teach kids all over the world Virtually over the internet.

Well I am currently "chatting" with them and we are talking about the past week. I am amazed at the impact of our Presidential Election. A lot of them are telling me how they watched shows on all their major networks that were basically our election coverage with maps and all. And how they stayed up into the night to watch McCain and then Obama speak.

CNN talked about the world impact, but to be "speaking" with these teenagers from all over and hear how it was covered where they live and what it means to them just amazes me.

Well off to grade some virtual papers.

How very cool! My friends kid just started at the Florida Virtual School. Is that what you teach through?

Goodmorning all. In 2 weeks we will be doublechecking the car and making sure we are ready to leave for the port.

I am going to offer a different perspective to Costa Maya. We loved the town. Picture a giant circle with stores on the outside and a big pool in the center. There was a swim up bar and the pool went right to the ocean. We really enjoyed the town. But I know that many did not.

I liked Costa Maya too. I missed out on the pool in the shopping area and would be fine doing that if necessary. But I prefer somewhere new, like GC.

Yippee! I'm done!!!!

Michelle--did you hear that?:rotfl: No more homework for me until after our cruise!!!!!!!

I heard it! Congrats!

I know you're all getting sick of my "Great News" and "Yippee"s, but I just logged on to Southwests site and was able to change our airfare and now have an additional $552 in credit for SWA! I guess we'll have to go somewhere, huh?;)

It's a sad day in the Suzy Mousehold.

Our parakeet of 4 years has recently discovered a way to escape from her cage. We were quite perplexed to how she was able to do this and found it quite comical to come into the room and see her sitting on our floor  . This morning, DD goes in and discovers Zazu (what else?) halfway in and out of her cage. She was totally stuck. I tried everything possible to pry the bars apart but wound up pushing her back in. She went to the bottom of the cage...I assumed from exhaustion.

We returned home from an affair and I check to make sure she was in her cage and she was...lying at the bottom...gone. :guilty: I must have broke something pushing her back in. Poor little thing. My ds is handling it ok..wanting to call everyone. DD is sick to her stomach...as am I.

Thanks for listening...

Oh, Suzanne. Your post made me cry.:sad1: I'm so sorry about your parakeet. My mom has cockatiels and they are like her babies. She used to set the cage out on the deck on nice days because her cockatiel at the time enjoyed being outdoors. Somehow the cage got opened, and the bird was never seen again. My mother was so upset and went out and looked for and hollered for that bird for months. I am truly sorry for what happened and hope your kids are dealing with it okay. Sometimes kids can handle things like this better than us adults. I'll say some extra prayers for your family tonight.:grouphug:

 I'm so sorry about the loss of your pet.

MeanQueen I work as an adjunct for both Florida Virtual School and Global School (similar to the, but it serves students worldwide versus just the sate of Florida)

Susan,
That is great that you have gotten all that credit. Florida tends to be warm and sunny in the winter months :)

Suzanne,
I am so sorry about your bird.

Coming to you live from Disney Vero Beach....our first time staying here (we stopped for lunch once after a cruise) and it is very nice so far....Lia and mason made it to the campfire and enjoyed smores...I confess to watching football at the time b/c DS has dominated the TV w/the Hanna Montana marathon. But the kids club worked well tonight...Lisa and I got to enjoy dinner at Mr. Manatees while Mason was entertained here....and yes they had very cute T-shirts to sell....dinner tomorrow will be at a disboards recommended place called Squid Lips..not making this up....3 weddings here this weekend and the place is close to full up...no recession at Disney...

Chuck:cool1:

And Michelle, i will try to add the Turkey after we get back on Tuesday...too difficult on the laptop and a mediocre connection.

Chuck, Lisa, and Mason
Glad you are enjoying Vero Beach. Our friends were there last weekend and it was terrible (weather wise). So they did not get to enjoy themselves or any of the outdoor activities.

Enjoy your weekend and football. My DH has been glued to the TV most of the day

Weather forecast is pretty good, though of course this is Florida and predicting the weather here can be pretty speculative, but hopefully it will remain nice..

Suzanne - I'm so sorry to hear about Zazu. It's amazing how they come into our lives and become part of our family. I had 2 parakeets, Frank Sinatra and Tarzan that we loved dearly.I understand your grief.

DH and I went to the outlets this afternoon. Our public bus system is more than likely going on strike Dec. 1st. I will have to drive to work and walk across the Monongahela River from the parking lot. It gets very windy and bitter cold in the winter. I wanted to buy a new Columbia jacket. They didn't have the one I wanted so I bought new Pumas instead! When all else fails, buy shoes!!:dance3:

Susan - Nice job! I heard you screaming all the way here in the East! :scared1: Are you doing all this work to make me look bad and feel guilty? And congrats on finding all of the money!!! I totally forgot about counting the Disney jar money. Unfortunately DH has been taking $ from it for DS lunches. I was told every time he was doing it he would put it back. He never did, so I'm sure there's not much left.
Tomorrow I swear I am finishing my ironing and packing. I also have to get groceries, finish laundry and clean the upstairs bathroom.

Chuck and Lisa - You'll have to let me know all about Vero Beach. If only I can talk DH into DVC......................

If you are going to do DVC, the place to do it is on the ship...they always have a discount per point and usually throw in some extra first year points or similar enticement...however, you can usually get a double point discount, or close, by using the onboard discount combined with the knowing someone in DVC discount....for instance, when we bought about 3 years ago, price per point was $98...there was an onship discount of about $90, but since we knew someone, everyone does, we got our points for $83 per point....the only catch was a slightly larger down payment for the second discount....out for now...will check in sometime tomorrow..

Chuck:cool1:

Chuck,

Do keep us posted on Vero Beach. I've often wondered how it was there. Do you have to be DVC to stay there? (Can you tell my southwest credit is already burning a hole in my pocket?:lmao: ) I'm already driving my husband nuts with it! I've priced out a week at WDW, skiing in Colorado, and even visiting relatives in New Mexico. He wants me to give it a rest for now.:confused3 :rotfl2: However, with the deal that Disney is offering right now, the WDW trip is pretty enticing! If only the cows didn't have to be milked every day.

Susan

I can't sleep! I keep thinking about all the things I need to do in 14 days. I did start packing today and did get two kids done.

I do have some questions.
Being a Castaway Club member will Disney let me check in at the port for my sister's family and my parents? This is their first time cruising with Disney.

Does anyone know how much the internet or phone is?

Kim

Good Morning. I have been up since 5:00. Can't sleep either, thinking about all that needs done. I woke up in a panic thinking that the dog needed his shots. Jumped up,ran downstairs and looked at his records. He's fine and up to date on everything. That settled, I jumped right in to laundry and cleaning!
Kim-
The 2008 Passporter has the following listed for internet costs on board:
.75 per minute
27.50 for 50 minutes
40.00 for 100 minutes
75.00 for 250 minutes
125.00 for 500 minutes (offered on extra long cruises)
Minutes can be used for both terminal and wireless access.
As far as cell phone costs you will need to check with your carrier. Passporter said their last bill from AT&T was $2.50 per minute.
Hope that helps!:surfweb:

Chuck - I would love to purchase DVC on board. I called them about a month ago to get info and they suggested the same thing. DH is saying that now is not a good time because of the economy and our investments. When you see him on board, gently whisper "Vacation Club" as you pass. Maybe he will think it's Disney angels speaking to him and decide to buy!

Susan - If I had SW credit I would be looking at booking somewhere to go also! That WDW promotion is good. I'd love to go in Feb and add on a 4 day cruise. That way you can do the 99.00 return cruise in the fall too! I need to hit the lottery or get that 2nd job.
Have a good day, make good choices. Be kind.:flower3:

Kim,

This is from my experience in 2005 . . They would only check in those cabis that were truly CC members. Our parents were not and they had to go to the other line. But honestly, it did not take that much longer. Who knows, the policy could have changed by now.

Suzanne, Sorry about Zazu . . .

Yesterday was Kiahs real birthday party with all of her friends. We ended up with 4 seven year lod girls last night:scared1: . . . I dont think I will ever recover.
