Traveling Turkeys 2010

As for the ships crossing I think the last three Thanksgiving the Wonder has sailed by Castaway Cay.

We were on a cruise where the Magic was forced to dock next to the Wonder in the Bahamas....it was so cool.

That would be so awesome!! :)

Oh , it would be WONDERful if the ships passed..... :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: I can just feel the MAGIC.:lmao:
if that was to happen. DREAMing....

Ditto! :goodvibes

Sorry- keeping meaning to do this. It has been a little crazy around here. Elizabeth's birthday was yesterday and I was concentrating on her big day and getting ready for her party on Friday night. She turned the big 12!

As far as the FE list on the webiste goes, there are 20 families who have signed up and only 2 of those have I not heard from in a while... Remember only the yellow highlighted names are participating. I know a few of you are waiting to hear on room assignments. I figure if I don't have a room assignment posted for someone in the next week or so then they aren't probably active anymore.

Its ok. We are all busy with hectic lives....we have kiddos & family to take care of  Hope Elizabeth had a great bday. I have started prepping for FE just in case we got in;) so we'll have goodies to give. Just need to know how often we deliver so I know how many goodies to bring. Also, does anyone have any allergies???? Don't plan on using anything with nuts, but just wanted to know about any other allergies we might need to be aware of.... Also, after looking at the list, noticed everyones names were on there. DD is Faith & DS is Thomas... :thumbsup2

It has been an unbelievably warm, bright (FL) like day in Delaware. :cloud9:Rainy and muggy yesterday but super today. Really brightens my spirits when it is warm instead of cold.... Looking forward to sunny, warm and rain free days while we are on the cruise....:goodvibes

The Strain Family is here and we are still planning on participating. My DS, Nicholas (who goes by Nicky) wanted to make sure I told everyone that he is a boy Nicky and not a girl.:rotfl: When time a pre-school class mate brought him a Barbie for his 5th b-day (parent doing the shopping). His little sister couldn't have been happier though. Suzanne, if you are still making edits to the FE extender spreadsheet, can you just change his name to Nick instead of Nicky. You can also delete the stuff in the notes section.

I really need to start working on FE gifts. I have some ideas, but am quickly running out of time. DD b-day party is next weekend so I need to get those goody bags done first.

Three weeks from today and I will officially be on vacation! I am taking Thursday before the cruise off of work to do all the packing, helping getting animals off to the kennel etc. Then we leave San Francisco early Friday morning for the flight to Orlando. This is the kids first ever cruise (and only our second) so we are going to surprise them with a limo ride to the port. I can't wait for this trip.:dance3:

:cheer2:Hopefully everyone who hasn't had their room assigned will soon receive that information and the final FE list can be posted. My vote would be if the few families that haven't responded to recent inquiries about their participation still haven't committed by then that they be removed from the FE portion so we'll have a final count. I thought it might be a fun idea since we're traveling at Thanksgiving, that we consider exchanging the recipe from one of the dishes that you would be preparing for our Thanksgiving Dinner if we were home, as part of the FE exchange. If everyone put their recipe on a
5 x 7 card and everyone provided at least one recipe, we would have some great new recipes to try on our next holiday dinner.

Earlier posts suggested meeting the afternoon of embarkation day, later posts suggested maybe one of the following two days while out to sea. What's everyones opinion?

Nuttymomof2-
I have added you to my list and made stuff for your group

HillaryS-
I admist that I made a girl bag for Nick(y) I will fix it tomorro

CCisler-
I like the idea but heck lets make it your favorite recipe in general...I can always use a new dinner or dessert recipe :) And I vote embarkation day as people may have activities or reservations on sea days

Oh and I agree if they are not posting here then remove them from the list

So nice to see so many talking before the cruise!:thumbsup2

I have my FE gifts ready to go!!! :)

Now, packing is a hard one for me? Should I pack just all shorts and just maybe one or two pair of jeans or long pants for the boys? ( I mean besides the pants for the dinner nights we need them)

I hope the weather will be GREAT!! :goodvibes

As for the pants we have gone at this time every year for years.

We pack one pair of pants per person and one sweatshirt...we rarely actually wear the pants. hope that helps

I agree Michelle. Last year we brought so many clothes and hardly used them all. My son has an aversion to pants, so all we'll be bringing for daytime is shorts. He spent most of his time upstairs at the courts playing dodgeball, even when he did wear pants at dinner, he was out of them within 30 min.! LOL:rotfl:

Oh, and thanks for adding us!

Just wondering.... I had some candy & chocolate bars to give, but after reading the DCL Faq's page, they specifically state NO FOOD whatsoever can be brought in your luggage or onboard. Anyone know what the protocol is?? I've seen several people in the Dis boards say they gave candy as their FE gifts. I'm confused

We have always brought Wrapped candy and things to give out to the kids. Never had an issue and even in the port waiting you will see alot of kids and families eating snacks sometimes before boarding.
I know that they do not want anyone to bring anyting like that at the ports or back to into the states from things bought at the ports but I think that is mainly fresh food, plants for pets by law.

Thanks:thumbsup2 funny about you son.LOL

Oh, and I still do NOT know my room number yet! UGH I am thinking surly I will know between now and next week???:headache:

I bring an entire suitcase full of candy and other little goodies.

I have never had a problem. I had chocolate bunnies in April in a separate bag and both got on just fine

Excited about Turkey Day on the Magic. Will be traveling with 11 year old daughter, 14 y.o. daughter and hubby.
