Traveling Turkeys 2010

Well my DD11 is going to go snorkling for the first time.:cool2: (my first time 25) DD has some pretty bad eyes. I read up on perscription masks, looks like a pair could be expensive and may not work well because they are "close" to her script. Plus she might only wear these once in her life since she's still growing. I figured the best solution would be to use disposable contacts for the day under the mask. She was scared but was willing to give it a try.
Now she wants to wear them all the time.

Love the logo!!! It's so cute...and will make an awesome magnet :thumbsup2

Glad to see our FE list is growing :banana: It makes things more fun that way.

Snowwhyt- I started wearing contacts at 11 and have never looked back. It has allowed me to see things so much better. I can see clearer and don't have blurry peripheral vision. Yay for your DD :yay:

We had a wonderful long weekend at WDW. We went to the breakfast at Hollywood and Vine on Sunday. It was great! The characters dance every 10 minutes so they kept her totally entertained and I finally got to eat a meal in peace with my DD present :goodvibes

Glad to hear that you had such an awesome trip over the Labor Day weekend. Our DD11 went just got prescribed glasses for the first time. Not sure how she has eluded them for so long - maybe she memorized the eye charts! :rotfl: We thought she could skip straight to contacts but she was very uncomfortable with taking them out. Will try again soon but we need to get glasses in the meantime.

Looking forward to seeing the countdown ticker show less than 2 months.

Modified the logo a little...

Have a great weekend!

We will be joining the Turkey Day Cruise. We have two boys 12 and 9. It is our fourth cruise. Can't wait!!!!!!!
Kevin, Kristin, Brian and Brendan

Welcome to the cruise Kristin! It's going to be a blast :goodvibes

Hope everyone had a great weekend. We're getting so close to the cruise it will be here before we know it.

Have we set a deadline to sign up for the FE yet? So we can get the list of kids ages and such.

My DD11 would be happy to practice/show how she puts in her contacts with your DD11.
I was just wondering if anybody could give me a heads-up on approximate numbers to expect for the FE list. Will it be around 25 or 125. 4-1 adults over children?

PS Sorry if spelling is bad. I'm on-line with my cell phone and the font is about only 2pt. I can't sleep because...

We live in a wonderful house about 15 years old near Green Bay (Go Packers) in a very wooded subdivision. Well its getting cold at night now, and the small woodland creatures are looking for a warm place to stay.
I was awaken to loud sounds on the wooden blinds down the hall in my DD room.
Unfortunately it was not Mickey but one of his lesser known cousins! Funny, put some overgrown yellow shoes and a pair of shorts on a mouse and I'll spend a thousand to see him.
But if he's gray, about the size of a thumb I'll spend a thousand to never see him again!

Think I'm going to close my eyes for a little while now, I have the dog in bed with me now DH set some traps and went to work.
I'm so tired!

We are in for fish extenders: me, DH, DS (7) and DD (6).

I am glad your DD is going to try snorkeling. My son did it in Hawaii last year and loved it. We were in a calm bay where we could walk in from the beach and he even became comfortable enough to snorkel on his own without a kickboard or anything. I think the magic of having a sea turtle swim by him has him hooked. My DD on the other hand, I have no hope of her trying it anytime soon. When we are at WDW or DL I refer to her as "IDon't Want To." I don't want to go on Splash Mtn/Thunder Mtn/Matterhorn/Test Track/even the BarnStormer. So no snorkeling despite the fact that she is a great strong swimmer. :confused3

Over the last two week's surfing the DIS and Cruise Critic websites I came across tons of recommendations for Bernard's Tours on St Maarten.

http://www.bernardstours.com/

I sent him an e-mail to resrvation a spot on the tour. None of the Disney options offered everything we want to do, but this tour looks like it does a little of everything and all the guides received rave reviews. I am very excited to discover the island.:thumbsup2

Have any of you experienced Disney Cruisers done the StingRay encounter at CC? My son would probably love it, but I don't want to resrve a spot for little miss I don't want to and then be out the $ for me and her.

The clock is ticking down to our departure. Found pirate costumes for all of us on e-bay of the weekend and for DS it will double as his Halloween costume. DD of course wants to be either a mermaid or Rapunzel for Halloween.

Hope to see lots more posting as we get closer.

Hilary

Never done this before! It sounds very fun do we sign up on this site or somewhere else?:dance3:

Welcome Princess Kristin! Just let me know if you want to be on the FE list and we will add you. Keeping track of the details on the website. Just need details- family, kids ages and stateroom number.

Guess the cruise is getting close enough that we do need to think about having a deadline. Right now we have less than 10 families but our list is growing :thumbsup2 ... What does everyone think about an Oct. 1 deadline? That gives all of us about a month and a half to finish up the FE gifts before the cruise.

We did the Stingray encounter at CC. I loved it. You get to learn and experience so much in safe environment. My oldest- she was 13 at the time- loved it. My youngest daughter(10 at the time) who is not adventurous at all did not like it but was brave enough to feed the stingray. She just wanted to get out of the water as soon as it was over. She didn't like them swimming around her legs. There was others who weren't happy and were held by the parents. The stingrays act like cats- swimming and brushing against your legs. It is a little unnerving because you are afraid to stumble over them. It didn't help that the water was freezing that day and the wind chill off the water made it too cold to enjoy being in the water. We tried to spend some time in the water after the feeding but it was just too cold. It doesn't take very long and it is right there among the other activities so you might think about splitting the family up during this activity.

Thank you!! I would love to be on the FE list. We have 2 boys 12 and 9. Is there another website for this cruise? If so could you pm it to me?? We did the stingrays and all loved it except for DH who got out of the water real quick:) It is getting so close, we can't wait!!!!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Tomorrow marks the 2 month countdown! Time to get busy on cruise planning! :goodvibes
