We have a few travelling traditions. The girls get new Disney shirts to wear. In the past they have been matching, but considering my oldest is 14, I don't know if that is going to fly this year.
On trips that haven't been surprises, we have used paper chains to count down the days until we leave.
We go through their pins to see if they have any they are willing to part with on the trip and pack their pin shoulder bags. We pull out all the summer clothes and they have an outfit fashion show to see what fits and pack everything in their suitcases. I try to involve them as much as I can so that amps them up. On the plane we let them watch Spongebob on the TV, which they never watch (my youngest was at my boyfriends parents and Spongebob was on and she said "Um, Mom? I can only watch this on planes.") On the way OUT of MCO on the Magical Express, we have a scavenger hunt of sorts. "The first person to see a hot air balloon gets a DD", etc.
We are 35 days out now, and the kids are packed, but don't know when we are actually leaving. My oldest has it in her head that we are leaving in August. Suckah!
