Traveling Traditions

We have a few travelling traditions. The girls get new Disney shirts to wear. In the past they have been matching, but considering my oldest is 14, I don't know if that is going to fly this year.
On trips that haven't been surprises, we have used paper chains to count down the days until we leave.
We go through their pins to see if they have any they are willing to part with on the trip and pack their pin shoulder bags. We pull out all the summer clothes and they have an outfit fashion show to see what fits and pack everything in their suitcases. I try to involve them as much as I can so that amps them up. On the plane we let them watch Spongebob on the TV, which they never watch (my youngest was at my boyfriends parents and Spongebob was on and she said "Um, Mom? I can only watch this on planes.") On the way OUT of MCO on the Magical Express, we have a scavenger hunt of sorts. "The first person to see a hot air balloon gets a DD", etc.
We are 35 days out now, and the kids are packed, but don't know when we are actually leaving. My oldest has it in her head that we are leaving in August. Suckah!

I drive down from Athens, GA. Always stop at the Florida welcome center to stretch my legs, usually stop at the travel center on the toll road to gas up so I won't have to so soon on the way back. I feel like I'm almost there when 75 splits into the tollway and I admit my heart starts beating a little faster (my foot might get a little heavy then too).

Since we are staying at ASMu & they don't supply a coffee maker we will be bringing a single cup Keurig machine DD uses in her college dorm - the plus side of this is that we can bring our Dunkin K-cups:coffee:

I'm the one who is most excited for our trip. All the others are excited, but I'm the one who does the planning (they want no part in it) & it's too far out for them at this point.

Even though DD is 20 & DS is 15 they still get Easter baskets - I think a trip to the mall is in store to give them some Disney Pixie Dust :tink:

Fun thread. We do Disney movie and themed food a few times before we leave. We fly out of an airport about 1.5 hours away and eat at steak and shake going or coming back as we don't have one in our town. We have done countdown chains, etc. Always looking for new ideas. Vacation becomes real when we land at the Orlando airport and head for the Disney bus.
