Hi I am traveling to Disney for the first time with my 5 month old daughter and just wanted some tips for traveling with a baby to Disney. We are going to Disney from March 27th to April 3rd. What kind of weather can I expect during that time. Any tips for things I could pack that I wouldn't normally think of that would help make the vacation easier.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice! :)

Being 13, I dont really know what to expect for a 5 month old (because im not a mother) You probably already know all of the stuff I do: But when we travel with little kids in my family, we make sure we bring a stroller, an extra blanket (To cover the top of the stroller when the baby gets tired or when it gets sunny), snacks (What do little ones like to eat?), and just stay cool. Keep the baby happy, but dont stress too much. Make sure that you can find a quiet place to go so they can have a nap time...

Hope I helped! :D

We took my daughter, who was then 5 months, last year for our first trip and had a great time.

One piece of advice -- Solar Eclipse makes a line of sun clothing and blankets that was key (Just google the company)! The blanket they offer is super lightweight, but is UPF 50+. We used on our daughter's stroller when she took a nap or just on her legs to keep the sun off of her. They also make a "sun suit" that is wonderful. It is made of the same superlight material but is also 50+. It was much easier to put that on over her clothes then to constantly worry about sunscreen.

We are going this year again for our 1-year anniversary of our daughter's 1st trip -- she will be 17 months. Instead of using the disney crib (which our daughter never slept in the first time btw) we are using a service called A Baby's Best Friend to rent a full-size crib. I've read good reviews, but since I haven't used it yet, I can really speak to it.

Have fun!

One other thing -- If its not too late for you, I highly recommend trip insurance. The first time we were planning on going with my 5 month old we had to cancel and go the following week because she had unexplained vomiting and we didn't want to chance the trip. I always purchase it now -- with young kids you never know what is going to happen.

Be sure to visit the Baby Care Centers located in every park. You can nurse/feed your baby in a rocking chair, change your baby on a nice big cushy changing table, let them crawl around in the play space, buy baby food, formula, diapers and clothes. If your forget something don't worry, they will have it, if you need medicine, they have tylenol and motrin, etc. I can not live without going there, I needed to get hot water for bottles, etc and you don't need to use tap water. Plus it is a very quiet place to just get out of the sun and take a break. The one at Animal Kingdom is the best, but all are great. And make sure your stroller reclines all the way, and bring some kind of carrier because your daughter won't want to sit all the time. And she will definately fall asleep on Spaceship Earth, if she is crabby, take her there.

We went when DS was 5 mos. I loved having a sling carrier- I used a hotsling. Was great for standing in lines etc... Also we used Garden Grocer to deliver diapers wipes etc... We brought our own stroller. Check if sunscreen will be ok or not for baby. We used hats and light blankets to protect from the sun but did use sunscreen on arms and legs after checking with pediatrician. We took it slow and took midday breaks for a quiet nap. Some shows and rides are surprisingly loud - off the top of my head- Mickey's Philharmagic, Figment's Imagination Ride in Epcot. I had to cover his little ears!

We will be traveling with a 6 month old and have a stroller question. I was looking in Babies R Us today and saw stroller frames that you just snap the carrier into. Has anyone used one in WDW? It seems like it would be a breeze for getting on and off of buses since it folds flat. I figure we can hold the carrier on our laps..what do you guys think? :confused3

We went last year with a 4 month old. We had the Combi stroller. Loved it. Light weight, easy to take down and put up. Nice basket underneath. Make sure you have a light blanket to throw on the baby, or to keep the sun off the baby. We used formula stix. Had her bottles already filled with bottled water. Use bottled water. Do not use Florida tap water. She was very good the whole trip. I don't think she cried for 7 days. Now when we got home, and there was not entertainment 24/7, then that is where the problems started to appear!!

We have the snap in type stroller you're describing and I think that keeping a baby in their carseat for a long period of time without the ability to stretch our for naps would be very uncomfortable. Our childbirth educator mentioned that you shouldn't keep a baby in their carseat for more than an hour at a time because it could cause circulation problems. As for holding a carrier on your lap - some of those bus rides can be as long as 30 mins and those carriers get heavy and could be awkward to hold onto for that long.

We started using our Peg Perego Pliko P3 when our DD was 5 months old and couldn't imagine using her snap 'n go stroller for anything longer than 30 mins. She is always comfortable and has plenty of room to stretch out. As for the buses, it really didn't take up much room at all and DH and I never had a problem collapsing and carrying it.

I highly recommend a regular stroller as opposed to the snap 'n go type with the carrier.

Thanks for the advice! :lovestruc

We brought our DS to WDW when he was 5 mos. Here are some of the things we packed:

  • Our own Pack N Play sheets (so they smelled like home)
  • Extra receiving blankets (used for extra shade in stroller, for warmth in chilly AC, and for putting on the floor in the hotel room so baby could have some play time/tummy time)
  • Disposable changing pads & scented plastic bags for stinky diapers
  • Disposable bibs
  • DS was on formula, so we brought ready-to-feed nursette bottles (more expensive, but very convenient)
  • Pacifiers
  • Swim diapers
  • Footed pj's (hotel AC can get chilly)
  • Hats
  • Sunblock
  • Thermometer, Tylenol, Motrin, etc
  • Teethers and toys (with those plastic links so that toys can be attached to stroller)
  • Baby carrier/sling/etc
  • Rain cover for stroller
  • We brought our travel system so we had carrier/car seat and stroller. We chose to do this because DS was not sitting on his own yet, so he couldn't use a high chair in restaurants. He sat in the car seat instead of high chair. We had more adults than kids on this trip, so DS spent lots of time being held - he didn't spend hours in the car seat.

Also don't forget a nasal aspirator just in case baby gets allergies or a cold. We forgot ours the last time and were unable to find one anywhere.

Here's what I did - I sat down and walked myself through our day and made sure to write down every little thing that we use everyday. Then I added other items such as disposable changing pads & bibs, ziplocs for putting dirty or wet clothes into, soft-sided lunch bag and small icepack to keep water for bottles cooled & my favorite item - the sippy cup tether which we used for attaching toys to the stroller.

We ordered diapers, wipes, formula, water and babyfood from a grocery delivery service. So much nicer than carrying it in our luggage. We also made sure to pack 24 hours worth of powdered formula and food to take on the plane with us in case we got stuck on the plane or re-routed.
