Trying to plan a trip before DD turns 3. Due to resort availability, it looks like we might still be there on her birthday. Do I just have to buy a 1 day pass for the day? Or since we'll have been there 4-5 days before she's 3 is she just free the whole time?

She will remain whatever age she is at check in, so as long as it is before her birthday she will not need a ticket and is free the whole time.

Kids are the age they were at the start of trip. What you are doing is actually what is suggested for first trips as the kid is free but 3 year olds tend to be more managable than the youngers so being 2 and 364 days gives you some extra maturity but less cost!
