Im looking at dates for next September.

It will be myself, DH, my baby who will be 17 months and my Mother is she ever commits to this trip (long story)

When is Sept is best? Food and Wine Festival is at the tail end- not sure what temps are then. I have been there the last week of Aug-and it was extremely hot and humid- Id like to not experience that again. But I do want it to be warm enough for my little one to really enjoy being at the pool.

Suggestions?

We had a short vacation last year beginning on Sept. 30th, and it was very tolerable. There were some very hard downpours, but it wasn't as humid as we experienced this year in the middle of August. Swimming weather, yes definitely, it was perfect for swimming.

Bobbi :sunny:

We normally travel mid-October, but the past two years have gone in September (this year early-Sept/last year mid-Sept). It was way too hot. Won't do it again.

The crowds were much much smaller in mid-Sept, but I don't think it was enough of a trade-off for the heat difference. We've always been able to swim in October.

And this year the Food/Wine festival doesn't start until Sept 29. I definitely try to hit the festival.

my nephew and niece have a fall break in Sept - next week. So I go alot - the other big problems can be hurricanes. Otherwise it is okay.

I have fair skin - so no going to the parks late morning, early afternoon for me period. I take a nap, read my book, go shopping in malls.

then when the sun starts to set (often earlier) I can go back. with EMH this schedule is very doable.

I have never seem the 3 pm parade.... maybe one day I will take an umbrella and try to do it.

We went in mid-Sept once and it was way too hot for us. We didn't realize our second son (then 4 years old) was getting heat -related illnesses until it was too late. We now know what signs to look for and keep the kids hydrated and cooled. Allearsnet has a great section on how to beat the heat and stay safe.

:moped: We are planning on going in Sept next year also. It will be our first trip to WDW and our first trip home. :cloud9: I hear that the crowds are lower and I also plan on going to MNSSHP while I am there too. :goodvibes

:teeth: Unless we have some left over points and I can talk DH in to going for a quick trip earlier! :teeth:

Air temps won't be too much different (in general) from early to later in September and I don't think you will find much of a weather difference from one week to another, but it is still hurricane season so it is a calculated risk. For sure all schools are in session so attendance will be much more tolerable. I think you'll just have to go with your gut feeling.

September is a terriffic time to go......not too crowded. We have gone many times and loved it. :thumbsup2

We've enjoyed our trips during the last 2 weeks of Sept. I've never been in the earlier part of the month. Sure, it's hot and humid, but we just take afternoon breaks. We alternate between Oct. and Sept. and the crowds are definitely lower in Sept. (espescially the evenings in Epcot). I think if it weren't for the fact that my girls' birthdays are in Oct. and we like to go to WDW to celebrate, I'd probably go in Sept. every year.

We've visited the third week of Sept. two times before. The weather is definitely hot enough for swimming! We've enjoyed the time of year so much we're headed back in 9 days. The crowds are very light and that makes up for the heat. Keep in mind that the parks may close earlier than normal during the off season. If you're traveling with little ones that might not be a bad thing!

Hmm. now you all have me really thinking about this. When I went to WDW the last week in August it was HOT and HUMID, I HATED it- I hated everything about Disney- I told anyone who would listen the best ride was the plane home. I am NOT a humid-weather person. In May we found it to be a little too cool at the pool in the late afternoon. And heat stroke for little kids is nasty- I used to get this- it meant throwing up and feeling really crummy.

Im so eager to go and I hate to put off the trip, but maybe the later part of Sept would be better- or even the first week of October. Now Im just not sure. DH is fine is any weather.....

Getting this kind of info from other Dis'ers is priceless!

Nov is more like May. can be cool or warm.

Sept is more like July and August - hot & Humdity - unless there is a hurricane... hurricane at least cool it off.

the thing so bad about Sept is even after a rain storm it gets hot & humdity FAST :furious:

even in June you have a few minutes of cool - but in Sept forget it - it rains it cool down while it is raining - a few minutes after it stops it is just as hot & even more humdity than before.

well DH is all grumpy about going later, he doesnt want to go when its shorter days, which I understand, but I dont want to do the humidity thing. He thinks "mid Sept" is a compromise- I dont know that theres a difference between the first and 2nd week of Sept. Whats a good website to see average weather temps broken down thru out the month for Orlando?

Is it ALWAYS humid in September?

I was thinking about September 2007 too-until I read this!! I'm not a hot and humid person either. I usually go around the holidays because my folks live down there and I combine family visits with Disney. The weather is wonderful then.
I will be finishing my first year of Law School in September, so I wanted a nice reward-but I think I may wait a little!
