It isn't the 416, you missed it by one road. It is the 417, greenway. The tolls run you 2.00, .50, .50, 1.00, 1.00. Another .50 if you go to Osceola Parkway. If you land in the afternoon after 1600 you wouldn't want to take Interstate 4. There are no tolls on it, but plenty of traffic from 1600 to 1900.
It is worth the $5 - $6 to take the toll road. Much more efficient.
The Sanford airport website has a decent map, but I did a yahoo map for our Sanford to SSR trip last July. Do it from SFB to the address of POR. It gave me a good overview and the map was correct. Your car rental agency should also provide you with a map.
Assuming still that you do want to avoid the tolls and are traveling off-peak, you would take Lake Mary Blvd from the airport and go WEST until you get to I-4 and then take I-4 WEST all the way to WDW. But Lake Mary Blvd. has many traffic lights before you get to I-4.
Another alternative in which you'd only pay about half the toll money is to take TOLL 417 (Greeneway) SOUTH from Sanford International and then take TOLL 408 (East West Expressway) WEST to I-4 downtown. Then continue on I-4 WEST the rest of the way to WDW. Most of the congestion on I-4 during evening rush hour is on the part of I-4 you'd skip over; it usually opens up west of the 408 junction. Of course all it takes is one accident and that causes chaos!
The fastest route is definitely TOLL 417 all the way.
