Just curious what others wear on the plane to FL. Its been around -10 here for awhile and Im worried about what to wear to the airport for our trip.

I was thinking Capri's for me and Ill wear a spring jacket. But not sure about the kids and DH? Any suggestions?

I just put my girls (and me too, for that matter!) in a track suit with a short-sleeved t-shirt. Of course when we went the temp difference wasn't quite so big! I prefer not to wear shorts on a plane anyway. That worked well - they could remove the jacket, and light cotton pants weren't too hot for us.

When we've traveled in cold weather, we usually wear something like a fleece jacket to the airport and turn up the heat in the car. Yes, you will be outside for a short amount of time at the airport, but hopefully not too much and you can get through it. Once we're on the plane, the jackets get put into an extra empty carryon that I bring for that purpose. They stay there until we're on the plane home.

As for clothing, we usually wear long pants and long sleeves and change either on the plane or in the bathrooms at the Orlando airport.

Well, for DH and I we'll usually wear pants (jeans or khakis, sometimes capris for me). DS is a whole different story. He's 10, and has been flying to FL once or twice a year in the winter since he was 5. He wears 'zip offs' on the plane, so he starts off in long pants, and once we land, but before we deplane, he unzips, and is in shorts.

He also wears soccer slides with socks for when we are leaving the NE, and sticks the socks in his carry on as well.

We generally don't do jackets at all, just a few layers, since we literally go from our warm house, to a warm car, to a warm airport terminal.

My boys also wear the zip off pants. I usually put DD in a skirt with warm tights or bring her a change of shorts if it is too cold for capris and just change her in the airport bathroom. We also wear a fleece jacket or similar. One time I made the mistake of dragging our winter coats with us. A pain in the you know what that I would avoid if I could. If it is really cold you could still bring hats, gloves and scarves as they could easily fit in your carry on.

Well sometimes you need those hats and mittens at WDW. I put mine on last Sunday night for Fantasmic.

We wear lighter jackets and run like heck to the terminal. :thumbsup2

Flying from Boston we usually end up wearing jeans (I hate that zip-offs are out:headache:, those were great for my DS) and some type of t-shirt. In the Winter you won't have any problem with jeans being to hot in WDW. I usually have my kids where some kind of fleece/spring jacket so it's still pretty warm but easy to tote around, and then they can take it off inside.

Coming back on MLK, we had our long underwear on(the nice thin stuff) plus sweatshirts, it was chilly at WDW when we left. Upon landing I whipped out the windbreakers, hats and gloves. With the very cold weather in Detroit over the weekend was very happy the car started with no problems.

Come to think of it, Friday after Thanksgiving was quite a shock to the system as we got back about 10pm and it was mid 20's.

We layer and sometimes those gore-tex windbreakers are handy in the rain at WDW.

I always use zip off pants for my boys. Once when we went with DS, 3 at the time, we put him to bed with his zip off pants and short sleeved shirt, woke him up at 3am to got to the airport and put on his sweatshirt. We drove around 1 hour to the airport, parked the car, checked the luggage and looked down to see he unzipped one leg of his pants off during the night! It was the only long pair of pants we packed for him. Luckily is was warm our whole trip.

Yup...this was us in the -8 degrees in the Cleveland long term parking lot last February!

We're doing it again in one month!!

We usually wear jeans and short sleeve t-shirts. I put zip-up fleece jackets on the kids and DH and I wear light weight jackets on the plane. I always bring a carry on with shorts and bathing suits this way if it's warm when we get there everyone can change. We leave on Tuesday:banana: :yay: :cheer2: from Nj and it is 37 degrees here with a wind chill of 31. That's warmer than it has been this past week.

Mouse by marriage-we will be leaving the same day from VA. I was planning on jeans too with short sleeves and zip up fleece. I was not planning on shorts in the bag-I do have the PPP outfit for Tuesday night in case our luggage is late arriving to hotel. I see the hight is 73 at WDW-being a newbie-do you think we can hang in jeans for a day?????:cool1:

When we traveled in the cold seasons, we wore jeans and t-shirts under sweatshirts or light jackets being that we were only going from a car to a building. We packed shorts in our carry-on so that if it was warm when we got to disney we could change in the bathroom of our hotel before we went to the parks.

This is really a dilemma for me - I want to try to dress warmer this year than last - it was freezing when we got back and we had to shovel our car out of the off-airport parking lot. I'm thinking a sweatsuit with a fleece shirt and a t-shirt underneath and also a spring jacket over top. But, then where am I going to put all of those clothes once I start taking them off, uggh!! It is supposed to be 80 degrees in Florida when we land on Thursday!

One year we left and it was -30 in Boston and 70 in Orlando. We wore pants with tees, sweatshirt and light jacket. You still need ss or jkt at night in the parks.

We are bringing coats. We all have the 2 layer winter coats that zip together. DH and I got thinner ones from Land's End especially for the trip so that they would be lightweight and still keep us warm. We had one for dd, but didn't want to spend the $ on ourselves, so WDW pushed us to do it. We hate to be cold. Last Nov, dh insisted on wearing his big heavy winter coat on the plane. I just wore a fleece coat.

Well we always wear pants ( maybe Jeans or something ) and a sweater. The sweater can be taken off and isn't heavy and bulky like a winter jacket. Granted we tend to leave in February/March from Montreal and it's really cold out. But we figure it's 30 seconds from the house to the cab, then from the cab to the airport terminal. Not a big deal. The next time we're outside, it's hot and balmy.

( less than a month to go!! YAY! )

It's -6 right now where we live and we leave in a month! We have to leave at 3:30am and it'll be chilly. I usually wear a thinner warm coat and then leave room in the checked luggage to stick in our jackets so we don't have to deal with them on the plane. Then on the plane, we'll wear jeans and short sleeved t-shirts with zip up hoodies (have to take them off and put them in a bin for security). I don't use the airplane blankets or pillows (icky) and a hoodie is good for a makeshift pillow against the side of the airplane or a short blanket in a pinch.
