Traveling advice from Memphis to WDW and back

Hey all! I am planning on traveling by car to WDW from the Memphis area and want to do it over two days. We are thinking about staying in Valdosta, GA or Lake City, FL on the way down and then go to WDW on day 2.

We are not sure where we want to stay on our way back. We have talked about Dothan or Pensacola. We are not familiar with the Atlanta area and not sure how traffic would be traveling on a Friday. Do any of you have any suggestions? We have a morning ADR on that Friday and will be getting a late start out ( around 11:00 or so.) to head home.

We are looking for areas that have nicer hotels coming and going. Thank you in advance.

We always enjoyed staying at Tifton on the way down. We sort of got into the habit of staying at Morrow, GA on the way back.

We've stayed in Valdosta a few times - the Drury there is nice and in a great location. We are traveling from MO and can make it that far in a day so I would think it would be a fairly easy drive for you (we are about 5 hrs from Memphis).

Avoiding Atlanta at all costs will be good. Trust me.
