Ok, i have a opinion question for the "carolina travelers" (NC) would/do you prefer to drive or fly and why. I would be in a car with a 6 yr old, a 6'4 husband and me (who hates to ride). I hate to pay that much money for plane tickets, but I hate the thought of being in a car that long too!!! We went last year by train and save $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ big time, couldnt believe how cheap it was, and i would do it again, but my husband said NO WAY. He didnt have alot of leg room, but you dont have much on a plane, but we all know how men are!!! ;) but my come back for the train is that my son NEVER EVER complained once, and to me dealing with him happy is better than dealing with him riding in a car for 10-11 hrs. ready to set the car on fire! Thanks for your time and opinions!:upsidedow

In my opinion it would boil down to where youre located in NC in what I would do. We've always drove and had no problem but I absolutely hate the drive back. We thought we would try something different this year. We only live 20 to 25 min away from Clt intl airport and about 30 to 35 min from Gsp intl and got to experimenting with airfares for our June trip. Southwest was going at $905 for 4 round trip tickets from Gsp-Mco and USAirways was $740 for the same tickets Clt-Mco. We went the USAirways route. If I was a good distance from the airport or train terminal I would drive but if I was close to either one and the airfare or trainfare was decent I would look into one of those.

My stepbrother and sister-in-law live in Wilmington, NC which is nearly at the bottom of the state - so they drive. They enjoy the ride with their kids and having the car also helps as well.

We try to save a buck whenever poosible.

If you drive your car there are no rental costs or hassles.

If 275 pp rt airfare, that is 825 bucks. Once you deduct the cost of your gas I am betting that you will save about 300 each way by driving--that's 600 dollars!

Use some of the money to splurge on a luxury or two while you are down there! (and/or buy a dvd player for the car if you do not have one already)

we stay in goldsboro, and it should take around 10 or 11 hrs to get there. oh how i just hate the thought of being in one little seat for that long!!! but the $$$$ that we would save helps ease my thoughts of that seat!!! :) i wish i could click my heels and be at disney right now!!
