I am thinking of getting travelers checks this vacation since I am driving. Does anyone use them at the parks. I don't want a hassle using them.

all I carry is traveler's checks they are not a hassle, and are treated just like cash in the parks. Just make sure you have your ID. But I did find once I got home nobody wanted to take my traveler's checks>

I always use traveler's checks and never have a problem. I feel more secure with them and I also keep an eye on all that I'm spending. Using credit cards and debits makes you want to spend more, in my opinion. With the traveler's checks, I know exactly what I have and how much to spend.

I have never used travelers checks myself. One thing I did see on a CM board was that sometimes it is difficult for the checks to be cashed at the smaller places, especially at the beginning of the day with large denominations. Obviously, I am not an expert. Just food for thought.

Traveller's cheques are all we used the entire time we were there--we never had any trouble with them as we never had any outrageous amounts and had most in $50 cheques. Sure its more to keep track of but you don't run into difficulty with the amount being too much for even smaller shops to cash!

Always use them when we travel and never had a hassle. (Except at home at the grocery store???) I usually cash one at the front desk of the hotel before we leave in the morning. I always get $100s. Much safer than cash!! Yikes! Cash would make me a nervouse wreck! :guilty:

We used our room charge when we were there. It was so easy. I think we used about $40 cash the whole time.

I did just see an ad for an American Express travelers check debit card. You pre-load it with how ever much money you want and then use it like a credit card while traveling. I can't believe it has taken someone this long to come up with that. I think THIS would be the way to go!

We do the same thing. And I just saw that ad too. The promo they're running is if you order the card you get a free companion airfare. I don't know what the fine print is but it looks like a pretty good deal. I'm thinking about getting it specifically for the driving part of the trip. I think its probably going to be a lot easier to just swipe it at the pump then having to go inside and pay cash (especially if its 5am)
