travelers checks

I agree 100%.. It's awful to see how some people live their lives -charging this and charging that - and then walking around with their stomach in knots all the time for fear they won't be able to pay it off.. It's SOOOO easy to live beyond ones means with that little piece of plastic.. :(

Having said that though, I will admit to having a DEBIT CARD - that offers cash back - so I'm still able to reap some of the rewards without having to resort to actual credit cards..

I'm not sure what Disney policy is on debit cards though so when I make my trip it will be with a fistfull of traveler's checks.. LOL :) I also like the idea that if they're lost or stolen, you can get cash immediately.. Not sure how that would work if my debit card were lost or stolen.. Anyone know?

Just for giggles - my Dad had another saying that always stuck in my head and saw me through several rough spots: "If you don't save DIMES, you'll never have DOLLARS.." ;)

Color me confused! Motissori-----Disney yearbook???? Clicked on community board, found no page 60. HUH??????

Sorry for the confusion, Mick. On the Community Board there is a thread called the Dis Yearbook. It is usually on the first page.
Once you are on that thread, you will see your yearbook picture on page 60.

instead of carrying the checks throughout the park, just apply them to your room card. We just got back from first trip and applied 700.00 to our room card in tr. checks. All we had to do then was present the room card anywhere in the park and they took it off the balance. Our daughters card received no charging privileges, just DH and myself. We were even able to get a daily printout if you wish to monitor what has shown up and how much you have left. The only places that don't take the room card in the parks are places where they do not have cash registers. This worked out great for us, as we chose not to use a credit card.
Also, side note, don't forget a phone card as calls from the room are VERY high priced. Use a pay phone and have a card:)
Have fun and let me know if you have more ?'s. I would be more than happy to help.

This is a MAJOR tip! A travel magazine I get recently had a list of 5 things every traveler should know. Number 1 was : Use the phone in your room to call the police or fire department only!

It is amazing how much some hotels charge for phone service, even local calls can cost $.75 or more. Long distance charges can be completely obscene. Almost any phone card will be cheaper.

Most people these days have cell phones with free nationwide long distance. I use my cell phone almost exclusively on vacation. I program disney dining into my phone so I can make changes to my PS's during my stay as needed.
