Okay so I think I am done buying travel toys for my DD3 for our trip in July. We will be driving from Houston Tx to the World. We plan on leaving early so she may sleep a few hrs still. Otherwise here are the activites I have for her.

Movies
Magna Doodle
Colorforms
Magnetic zoo
3 rolls of stickers (in the Target $ bin right now)
Travel journal to stick them on (target also)
Crayola easel with stuff inside to color and draw

She is a good movie watcher so that will take up alot of time since I got her a new one. Is there anything I am missing?

What could be fun and also educational would be for her to have a small clock or wristwatch and be told that every time the big hand reaches the 12 that she would get a new toy. If she knows her numbers, this could be used to help teach time.

Not sure if it's name, but those pads that come with the "magic" pens. You know the ink is CLEAR, however once you start coloring the pictures in the pad the color comes out on the paper.
I have no idea what it is called, but my son loved them and with CLEAR ink...no mess!
I think your list is great!
Happy Vacationing and safe travels! :wizard:

I think that sounds like plenty of stuff. I always tend to take way too much stuff and the kids never play with half of it, they just dump it all over the car. I absolutely love buying and packing all kinds of fun travel stuff for the kids and then they just want to watch movies.

We just got back from a trip with our DS and we packed way too much stuff. Had magna-doodle, books, stickers, movies, various toys, plus snacks. We didn't really even get to anything but movies, snacks and a few books. This was for a 70 minute flight. I'm not sure how long your flight is. It doesn't hurt to bring it - most of this stuff is pretty small. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Just be sure not to give her more than 1 thing at a time. It's good to pull out something new when they are bored with the previous activity.

Have a fun trip!

That sounds like a good list. Where did you find the Colorforms? I have been looking for them. I also like to keep a few things back for the trip home.

Your list sounds great! I need to find some Colorforms as well. Where did you find the magnetic zoo? My boys LOVE animals---maybe that would be a good idea for us, too!

FYI---I was just at the Disney Store a few days ago and they had Princess stickers, Buzz stickers, etc on rolls for 99 cents. They also had those mini color books with the crayons attached on the back and a hook to attach it to strollers, backpacks, etc---those were on sale for $2.50, I think. I love a good deal at the Disney Store!

We always take way too much for my DS3, he is happy looking out the window and tends to sleep more (nine hour drive), especially on the way home, we can get about halfway before he wakes up from his nap (good napper). He gets one movie per trip there but is usually entertained with a two books and two cars. We just went in may on a 12 hour trip. I took so many less toys and it was great!

Because he is such a good kid though we won't have another! I think your list sounds great!

I always find colorforms at TJMaxx or Marshalls. I think the magnetic zoo that the OP is talking about comes from WalMart. I just bought 2 of these for our Sept. trip and they are SO neat! I bought the outer space (DS) and dress up pets(DD), but they had circus, zoo, fairy tales, etc. They are in a little tin (like an altoids tin) but are about 8 inches by 5 inches, so they fit in a backpack nicely. I found mine in the toy section with the play dough and magna doodle stuff. They were $5.97, I believe. I read about them here on the DIS (of course) and one person advised waiting and letting your child tear out the magnet pieces. She said her child spent a long time just getting the pieces ready. ;)

Thanks, Maymom! I'm definitely going to find those magnetic tins---sound like fun! I never thought of checking out Marshalls---thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

MayMom is right. That is where I found the magnet zoo. I had posted about them a few days ago. I may go and get the dress up one also.

I also found the colorforms at Wal-Mart but they were hanging on a display not on the shelf.

We are driving so I will save some stuff for the ride home.
