Travel tips from TSA

I am an employee for TSA and am open to questions concerning passenger/baggage screening questions while traveling. So rather than try to hit on everything I will await your questions.
www.tsa.gov can answer many questions concerning prohibited items.

I had posted the note below on another link regarding bringing food in luggage onboard a plane. Then later, I saw that you had started up this link so I'm posting the same message here as well. Thanks a lot for starting up this link and I appreciate any insight.

We're going to be travelling to Florida next month. I get really tired of standing around wasting time waiting and waiting at baggage claim for our bags to arrive. Are the airlines (we're flying Spirit) allowing passengers to bring their suitcases on board the plane? We would have only one bag each and they are reasonably sized. I plan to only take the basic necessities and keep everything to a bare minimum. Will we be stuck checking everything when we fly? I surely expect that any baggage brought aboard will be thoroughly searched.
 
I also posted my question in another thread on page 4 of the "guidelines" . I will try to remember approximately what I said in shortened form.

I am diabetic and always bring food (snack items) with me on vacation. Just where am I supposed to pack them?
