I'm heavily into day planning right now for our first trip home (yes!) next month and am wondering how long it will take us to get from BCV to the different parks. None of us like to get up early, but we're determined to get an early start, esp. for MK, and enjoy those midday breaks at the pool!

How long for...

MK - by bus, for an Early opening day at MK, what time would you get on the bus?

Epcot - walk or boat

MGM - boat (or can you also walk?)

AK - by bus

Allow plenty of time to get to MK by bus. The bus will stop at BWV after you are picked up, then off to MK. Ask at the desk when you get there about frequency, but I'd say plan for an hour. The walk to Epcot is quick, maybe 10 minutes! MGM is quite a bit further, I'd recommend the boat from the BC/YC dock. It will stop at Swan/Dolphin, then go to MGM (1/2 hour?). Not bad at all. Don't know about AK. Diana

We just returned from the BCV's and for early entry at the MK we were at the bus stop at 7:25 A.M. We were at the gates for the opening by 8:00 A.M. (but it did not stop at the BW that morning).

For MGM you may want to walk over to the BWV's or the Swan/Dolphin and catch the boat there. I think the walk to the YC/BC dock is almost longer than the walk to the BW. You can walk but it wil take a while.

Definitely walk to Epcot from the BCV. The walk to the boat would be just as long as the walk to Epcot itself!

I will report back about the other transports after my June BCV vacation!! :)

Easy walk to Epcot. With the buses to MK and AK, it is hard to say how long the wait is. We were always pretty lucky about getting a bus pretty quickly. As to MGM, we always walk, and always beat the boat. Unless the boat is waiting at the dock, just the time spent waiting for the boat to show will get you a good ways to the park.

For MK we tried to get to the bus about 45 minutes before opening.

Once you get on the bus it's about 15-20 minutes to get there-including the stop at BW.

We walked from ST one afternoon and it took about 15 minutes.

The walk to Epcot took about 5 minutes.

We drove to AK, but if using a bus then I'd get to the stop about 1 hour to 45 minutes before opening.

Have a magical trip!:D

Epcot - 5 min walk to International gate, another 10 min to Future World, no bus
MGM - 3 min drive+walk to entrance, 15-20 min walk, no bus, boat 15-30+ min depending on how long you have to wait for the boat to arrive. (We drive.)
MK - 30 min bus or drive
AK - no experience but guess driving 10-15 min + walk to entrance, bus 20-25 min.

Our bus experience to MK was with a 7:30AM bus that had a significant delay to load a wheelchair passenger and a BW stop, yet STILL got us to MK at 8:00 for early entry. It was not a pleasant journey as it was already full at BC, but still stopped at BW to cram in as many people as it could. Driving to MK is no better though as you have to park a mile away, (perhaps) take a tram, and then the monorail or ferry.

I am a BCV owner, formerly an owner at OKW/BW since 1995. Last summer we had our first stay at BCV. (Loved it). I have to recommend driving to MGM in the summer, anyway.

We had a NIGHTMARE last August, trying to return to BCV from MGM. It began to look dark in the afternoon, and we headed for the docks. (We had dinner ressies that night). It began pouring as we walked. I asked security if boats were running. I was assured that "of COURSE" they were. We waited at dock, no boats in sight. Walked back to where they have that transportation window, where again we were told boats were running. Back to docks. No boats, back to Guest relations, I am MAD now and soaked! They had NO idea what was going on, finally found out boats were NOT running. I ask how we get back, if the boats stop running, he suggests we WALK! I said, if it is not safe for the boats, is it safe for me to walk along a canal, with my 10 year old?? I asked if there was a bus. They had no idea, no one did. Finally the guest relations CM comes out of his booth (with an umbrella for himself of course!) walks us towards docks. We run into a group of other guests, with a security guard, who says, get on the AKL bus, it will take you to YC/BC/BW/Swan/Dolphin. NO system is in place for this situation.

Thanks, everyone for the great advice! Its so awesome that we can walk to Epcot & MGM. I feel so great about our decision to buy DVC, especially at Beach Club - I think its the best DVC location!

I can't add much to what others have already posted but I have been wondering about the possibility of walking through EPCOT to the monorail and taking the monorail to Magic Kingdom.

I know this is an option but have never actually done it myself. If anyone has used this approach to get to the Magic Kingdom from BCV let me know what you think.

Thanks

Personally, I think the bus is faster, but we have done this once or twice. Keep in mind that you cannot walk through EPCOT until it opens. That means you cannot get to the MK for EMH or even for park opening. Of course you know that you need a ticket to walk through EPCOT, but if you have a park hopper or annual pass, that really doesn't matter. You do need to change monorails at the TTC. IIRC, you have to walk down the ramp and then get in line for either the resort monorail or the express monorail to the MK. That can mean a wait in line at the TTC depending on when you go.

We sometimes take the monorail "home" (BWV) if we are not too tired and not in a hurry. I love the ride between the TTC and EPCOT and never mind a walk through EPCOT!
