We are staying at The Boardwalk and one of the nights we are going to see Happily Ever After. That night they have EMH at Epcot so Epcot closes at 11 and Happily Ever After will end around 1020. Has anyone ever left MK at that time, taken the monorail to the front of Epcot and then walked through the park to International Gateway to get to The Boardwalk? I am wondering when they close the gates at the front of Epcot and is there enough time to make it from MK at 1020 to Epcot before 11pm? I know I can also drive or take the bus but I am wondering if the Monorail might be quicker with the crowds and a fun ride back to our resort.

If Epcot is still open for EMH, WDW resort guests will be admitted.

I'd not want to take that long (2-monorail, changer-over at TTT, route) nor would I want to walk that far through Epcot and beyond (see the image below...) but if that's what you want to do, have at it.

If it's "quicker" you want, I don't think this method fits the bill.

Sounds like a fun plan but my only concern would be trying to make there in time. I think I'd want to position myself near the entrance to the hub like by Casey's so I could make a beeline to the monorail when HEA ends.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it might be a fun way to get back even if it takes a little longer. My biggest fear is getting to Epcot and then it already being closed for the night.

Just out of curiosity, what day are you seeing has HEA at 10PM? I was just poking around show times and all I see are 9PM shows, or maybe I'm missing something. Do they actually have any 10PM times on the schedule or are you assuming they'll change?

That's the fun thing about it... you can take a fairly empty monorail back to Epcot, a leisurely stroll through the park to your resort and you're home. But yeah, that time window seems a little tight.

Just making sure this is known: you will need park hopper tickets if you want to do this.

Thanks for that info. I checked our day and is 9pm. I just assumed it was 10pm for the fireworks like it was last year but I guess with no Electric Light Parade, they moved it to 9pm for this summer.

My kids are teens now, but when they were still stroller-aged we did this many times. It was much more pleasant to keep sleeping toddlers in the stroller and leisurely make our way back to the resort. Yes it took much longer, but it was far preferable to waking little ones, and then carrying them (and the folded up stroller and diaper bag) onto a crowded bus. Once, when we were staying at The Contemporary, we did this in reverse. Our kids fell asleep after Fantasmic, so we walked from Hollywood studios to Epcot, cut through Epcot, took the monorail to the TTC, and then switched to the resort monorail.

Yeah, things can change so keep on eye on the schedule, but assuming they stay at 9PM then your plan to take the monorail to Epcot, etc should be totally doable, unless I'm missing something.

Have fun!
