Does anyone here have experience with using a travel money card? I've looked into my bank (Barclays) and they've seem to have stopped to offer this service, but the post office still has it.

So is a travel money card a good idea? It seems cheaper than using my debit card anyway. Or is it better to just bring cash, and maybe just use my room key to pay, and then pay cash to the hotel so I won't have to carry a lot of cash in the parks?

If taking cash then check your insurance, most policies only cover £200-300.

Personally I prefer a credit card with no fees (Post Office, Santander Zero or Halifax Clarity) You get full interbank rate, no fees and I keep my money in my bank.
A lot use the FairFx card but check the fees involved of any card.

Hi

T Cook used to do a money with no fees. I loaded up with dollars and there were no charges for purchase goods and about 1% to withdraw cash. I found this a lot cheaper and more convenient and you can reload fairly quickly

I have used Fairfx for the past 3 yrs no problem
checked balance left online, I used it like a debit card rather than drawing out cash at an atm ( fee applies) just took some cash with us and travellers chqs :)
If you do decide to go for the fairfx, look for a link to get the card for free, other wise it will cost a tenner :thumbsup2

We used Fairfx for the first time this year - a result of Nationwide now charging for foreign transactions - and found it to be faultless. When I wanted to put more money on the card, I found an internet cafe and transferred the money almost instantly.

Where can I find a link like that?

I also use Fairfx and find it so much easier than using cash.
