Just to let everyone know I picked up travel Laundry detergent at CVS. They are single load packs, CVS brand Free & Clear for 2/$1.00. The nice thing about them is that they are only about the size of a "take out" salad dressing (much smaller & easier to pack than the Tide from Target!!!)

Thank You, I'm always looking for travel size detergent.

If you use powder soap at home, the best (and cheapest) think to do is to take one scoop of detergent and put it into a ziplock bag, then take as many 1 scoop bags as you need. It's pre-measured, mess free, and you don't have to pay an extra cent for it, you've already got the soap and the baggies.

We Chicagoans think alike.
I get the sandwich size bags at the Dollar Store and use those.

Cool. I use the Purex Tablets but this is a good alternative!

Thank you.

This can and does puncture/explode, especially when overpacking or when security goes through your bags. Also, Security may conviscate, since it is not pre-packaged (powdered chemical substance).

All security has to do is open the bag and smell it. It's obviously detergent and not DRUGS!! I've never had a problem with the packaged soap, and it's never exploded.

I can't find the darn laundry tablets anywhere!
I have checked our K-mart and two walmarts within 60 miles of our house. and none of them have them.

I pack mine in sandwich bags then put all the bags into a tupperware container along with the drier sheets. You can use old cool whip containers (free) and throw them away after you do laundry so you don't have to pack it for the trip home. We didn't have a problem with doing this and flying this summer and we didn't do as much laundry as we planned so we flew both ways with bags of powder in our checked bags and at least half our bags had notes that they were searched. :rotfl2:

where in CVS did you find them?
i've looked in the laundry aisle by us, but there weren't any. :guilty: (i like liquid better for cold water wash; it seems to dissolve, & clean, better).

Me too! It was in the aisle with all the travel sizes. Hope you can find them! :flower:

Just got back from CVS - purchased both the travel laundry detergent (liquid) 2/$0.99 and the fabric softener (liquid) 2/$0.99. DH does not like for me to use the fabric softener sheets - so I was glad to see the liquid. They are in packets - real neat - did not know they existed!!

Leaving in about 6 hours!!! Mickey here I come! :earsboy:

We always just take a small container of powder detergent and some dryer sheets. Never saw the point in buying special "travel" detergent. Just cheaper to take some of the stuff we normally use.

I would have thought the same thing DisneySteve, but we use liquid detergent and it is hard to take it with you. This is 2 pretty good size packets for $0.99 (I bought 6). If it saves me some room in my luggage vs carrying the whole bottle that is worth it to me. Also since we dont use dryer sheets (they are good to keep mosquitos away!!) that would not work for us either - so I guess it just depends on what your family uses on a day to day basis.

TY, OP!!
found the liquid detergent (rang up $.50 each) alllllll the way in the back of a bottom bin, behind a bunch of travel tissues, baby wipes, etc, in travel. (yup, i was crawling across the floor, determined to find those babies!! )
that was the last thing on my "to buy" list ~ YAHOO!!
 :cheer2:  :cheer2:
