the question is, who do you use and what level of insurance do you plump for?
usually there is standard, premier and premier +,

Have a look at www.moneysupermarket.co.uk they have a good choice of holiday insurers you can pick what suits your particular needs for your trip and whether you want single trip or annual cover so take your time and read what's covered for the premuim cost before you compare you could save money too We've looked at this site for our trip next year and it will save us around £50 which is good

We used Sainsbury's last time (obviously they were just the brand name attached) and were very pleased with the level of cover and the price

I have always used Direct Travel but I rang yesterday and their prices went up on the 1 May and wanted to charge me GBP10.20 extra than normal.

I told them I would be taking my business elsewhere!!!!

Just bear in mind that cheapest isn't always best

We have been happy with M&S but needed to insure DH through 'Age Concern' this year as M&S wouldn't cover pre-existing conditions

When we did need to claim, with M&S, last year the cheque was with us within the week

We have extremely comprehensive annual insurance free with our CC. Unfortunately, we have had to claim twice for cancellation due to illness, once a cheap break in Greece, once a very expensive 3 week trip around South East Asia. Both times, the money was paid out in about 4/5 days.

We always use amex travel insurance annual family worldwide premier cover includes north american car hire. when we first used them thought the premium was high but worked out what we would have to pay on car insurance we ended up saving money.
we have also had to claim twice and they paid up no problems.

Im using halifax annual world wide travel insurance, mainly because they will fully cover me if me asthma plays up (and it does) also I dont have to pay any excess on the policy, my personal luggage is covered, (cost a little more) as well as personal money.

plus I work for them lol and get a discount

our mortgage is with Halifax, so i will look into their insurance.

I have been through a lot of websites and direct travel is still coming up the best. £72.00 for an annual, so i am going to use them again. we paid this price with them 2 years ago as well,
Neildrum, did you tell them you have used them before, as i think you get a discount if you have been one of their customers.
