HI Guys :goodvibes

For many years we have travelled with insurance provided as part of our private healthcare scheme. It's been in the back on my mind for ages to check exactly what cover we have and as our renewal has just come through now is the time.....

The cover seems fine for if we are taken ill abroad etc but I am just wondering what levels of cover we should have for the travelling part of the insurance.

We are covered for:
Loss/damage to luggage - £2000
Loss of personal money - £1000
Delayed departure - £100
Missed departure - £500
Cancelling or cutting short trip - £4000

Doesn't seem like adequate cover to me given that our flights alone cost £4000 (PE for 4 of us) and we then have villa hire and car hire.... I then wondered if these figures were per person but they seem to be per trip.

Does it matter that the flights for both our trips at Easter and August are bought and paid for? Do you have to take out cover prior to booking?

Can anyone recommend an annual insurance policy that might be better for us? better cover? :confused3 or is the cover we have pretty much standard?

Any advice pls? :goodvibes

Some policies now have an option to cover 'natural disaster' too - like volcanic ash clouds :)

Is the cover not per person? The insurance providers are not always very clear about it, but usually those limits apply to each insured adult on the policy with a lesser payout for each child. If you can't find it in the fine print, email them.

I am with M&S now after Insure & Go refused to pay out for the ash cloud, links to their policies for you to compare what you have to theirs. I would say from the few figures you quote you have something like the standard policy with a few optional upgrades but nowhere near their Premium policy which we have, we paid about £150 for annual family cover got about £8 thru Quidco.

Thanks for the info :thumbsup2

On further inspection it does seem that our cover is per person and not per trip so i need to check out our policy further and Will definitely check out that m & s policy too :thumbsup2

Thanks again :goodvibes
