Hello! We are booked on our second cruise in December 2016. We were thinking of flying into Fort Lauderdale and then taking a cab to the Miami port. However, I'm nervous about such a long cab ride with kids ages 8 and 4 who are not in boosters. Any advice?

I believe, if your kids are supposed to be in boosters/car seats, you have to supply them yourself for taxi rides.

I should have been more specific...I'm looking for advice on options besides a taxi :)

We used SAS transport. On the way from the airport to our downtown Miami hotel, they had a booster (backless) available that our 7 year old used. On the way back, they did not have one. We had a Bubble Bum that we used. I know before our trip someone posted in our cruise meet up about a shuttle service that provided free car seats. I'll see if I can dig it up. You may be able to google it though.

When we don't have family drive us we end up having a car service. They provide everything and usually don't get too upset making an additional stop if little ones need to pee etc. Also the vehicles are usually cleaner than a taxi.

I will say add extra time then you think you will need. Sometimes traffic can be awful and sometimes it is nonexsistant.

Okay, here's the service someone posted about in our meet: http://www.fgcarservices.com/Fort-Lauderdale-Airport-Shuttle-Service.php

I can't vouch for them, I haven't used them. If we fly out of Miami again, I'll probably try them instead so I don't have to cart the bubble bum around. I would have done it this time but I already had a reservation with SAS and they were highly recommended so we went with them. We didn't have a negative experience with SAS, per say, but the driver doing 85 mph on the freeway with three unrestrained toddlers in the back wasn't super confidence inspiring.

The Bubble Bums are GREAT. I would never use one with a 4 year old at home (wouldn't use a booster of any kind, my son was still in a 5 point harness) or for a long trip where s/he might fall asleep, but for a relatively short airport to port trip I probably would.

Not too expensive and they weigh 1 pound each.
