I have bad memories of fumbling in a dark stateroom for that propeller clock, trying to read it by the very faint light of the closet...and being incredibly unable to do so.

Now that we are in an inside room, I really, REALLY need a lit clock even more. So I'm in the market for a travel clock.

Does anyone know of a reasonably priced travel clock that actually stays illuminated (i.e. doesn't require you to push a button to show the time)?

Thanks!

As I live in UK cant help, but would recommend as an alternative to use the mickey alarm calls to get up, I know not good if you are walking around at night, I just place my watch next to the bed or in the bathroom.

Haven't picked one up yet, but I remember playing with these at the store and thought they'd be great for something like this!

We use one from llbean.com . The digital display doesn't stay illuminated all the time (that would run through your batteries very quickly), but you only need to touch the clock anywhere and it lights up - no fumbling for a particular button. I think it was around twenty bucks.

ok this might seem silly, but I thought they had clocks in the cabins already. darn I have to pack a travel alarm as well?

They have a propeller clock in the room. It is not lit so if you want to know what time it is if you wake up in the middle of the night or have an inside stateroom a clock with a light is helpful.

Sorry to go completely off topic here, but I just noticed you have new photos posted in your signature. Love the fireworks, especially how the two white and one red look like a Mickey head! Very cool!

Now back to travel alarm clocks ... sorry I'm no help there.

I have the same one!! I bought it at one of the outlet stores here in the area and paid $10 for it, if that (it was on clearance because there was no box). I love that just a tap on the clock lights up the screen so no bright digital display staring at you all night...and it even tells you the temperature!!

When we cruised last month I just left the television turned onto the channel that has the date and time and turned the sound down.

Can you plug in a digital alarm clock? Is there an outlet near the bed?

You must have very good vision :teeth: Lucky! Maybe I'll do that for DH (aka Mr. Better Than 20/20) so he can have easy access to the time as well (one thing I hate about hotel rooms in general is the single clock. We both have clocks on our side of the bed at home. :thumbsup2 ).

Thanks for the clock suggestions! And I'm just 12 short miles from a huge outlet mall, maybe I'll check the LL Bean Outlet store.

I guess continuously illuminated isn't that common -- the only ones I've seen are upwards of $30, and I don't need a clock THAT much ;)

I just bought a really cheap one at walmart for $4.99 I think. It's battery operated. I need to see what time it is when I wake up in the middle of the night, otherwise I won't be able to fall back asleep. I'm weird, I know! :rotfl:

That's exactly my issue -- I tend to wake up a few times at night. Having a clock to glance at let's me know if it's way too early to go ahead and get up. So if I can't see the clock, I'll start wondering what time it is and then I won't be able to go back to sleep. Mental overdrive -- I don't expect people to understand. :rotfl:

Actually I have very poor vision  I would have to slip on my glasses even if I had a clock next to the bed. I have been doing it for so long now that I don't even think about it! I understand about needing to know the time. I would be worried that I had overslept all of the time.

I also use the LLBean one that was mentioned in a few previous posts.....love it!!! We just took it on our trip to London as well....very compact and light weight

Outlets are scarce in cruiseship cabins, there's usually only one outlet above the desk/mirror (we usually use the tv outlet also). But neither of these would be close enough that you could plug in an alarm clock unless you brought an extension cord.
