Been into my local Thomas Cooks to price up a holiday for next year.

Got talking about disney & I said I'd love to have a whole 2 weeks at Animal Kingdom Lodge but couldn't afford it.

She said she'd never been to Florida but agreed the hotel looked good & that she'd love to go ,to feed the giraffes from her bedroom!

When I explained that you could see the animals but weren't allowed to feed them she gave me alook which clearly said "I know better I'm the travel agent!"

Anyone else had a similar experience?

:rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Hi,

I have given up completely with the travel agents. I have posted this on here before but here goes again.

Last year we ended up going to Cuba for 3 weeks (fantastic place great hols) anyway as we would be going to WDW in 2007 we didnt want to got to Florida last year, but on the window at lunn poly was "amazing deal to USA!", ok i said, if it is that cheap we can go, no parks but see the gulf coast and still go back in 07 for the parks when Josh is older.

So I go in and say to the woman, we were thinking of going but do not want to do the parks (well I did but.............. anyway, you know what I mean). She said "I will call over our Florida EXPERT", her words, NOT mine. This other woman comes over and I start with the whole, we want a beach hols in florida this year, somewhere like St Peterburg for example I said. Her reply (gods honest truth guv) "Ah yes, St Petersburg, I have always wanted to go to Russia"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to Cuba!

Nice story... :rotfl:

Completely agree with you... can never get high street travel agents to give me excatly what I want at the best price, so I don't bother any more...

Occassionally go in to high street travel agents to pick up some pretty brochures to look through. But always book independently online (where ever I can get the bets price...) :)

Disney Owl, have you tried pricing independtly: maybe a fly drive and doing AKL through Dreams Unlimited? Any chance that you can go when they offer free dining - maybe that will help keep two weeks at AKL within budget?

lolol thats funny typical travel agents :rotfl2:

There is a TA that I have been to and one of the girls has a certificate from Disney to say she is a Disney Specialist.

most of us specialise in some particular area, because the world of Disney is very competitive money wise there aren't that many true disney specialist TAs in the UK, also the big multiples, your Thomas Cooks, Going Places etc are operator owned their in house training is more geared towards their own specific products rather than towards a broader knowledge.

When I went to book our holidays to the YC the TA who took my booking said she had only ever booked people into the Pop resort. I knew a lot more than her about Disney and what was available, I came on here at the time to say I felt uncomfortable about knowing more than she did, a bit of a know it all.
