Travel agent??

We are planning on a trip in Dec, this will be our first trip staying at one of Disney's property. Need help figuring out whether we should go through Disney or a travel agent. Has anyone gone through smallworld vacations? If so was it better than going through disney? Or should I just book with Disney.

Just book with Disney. We never use travel agents and never had a problem.

We went through AAA since we originally wanted the AAA discount along with the meal plan-- that particular combination means you need to book through them. (Without either component-- the AAA discount or the meal plan-- you can do it yourself.)

Do you have a pretty good idea of what you want in terms of resort, tickets, meal plan??

We just returned from Disneyworld, which was our first trip and even though we had done a lot of research ourselves we decided to use a travel agent who knew the ins and outs of everything and who would make all the calls for dining, codes, etc... We were extremely pleased, we went through Dinorah at Pixiedust Travel. Loved Her.

WE just got back from Disney Feb 2nd we used dreams unlimited. We were very pleased they booked our dining and answered all of our questions.

I think the answer to your question depends on how much you know about WDW in general. You said it was your first stay on property, but perhaps you have been on trips there before...

If so, and you feel you know a fair amount about how the tickets work, you have read lots of books or spend a ton of time reading these boards, then you are most likely just as knowledgeable (if not more) than some of the travel agents.

We used Small World vacations for our first trip because I was paranoid I would miss something in the planning. Although our agent was nice and helpful, I felt she did not always get back to me quickly when I contacted her. I also realized I knew as much if not more than she did from all my research - but I am a planner and very obsessive about finding out what I can when I go somewhere new. After that first trip I planned the next two on my own and have never regretted it.
