I am planning a trip to Disney World for next July. I would definitely like to go through a travel agent who can oversee all of the details and get me the best possible rate (when the AP rates come out, etc.). Is it generally better to go with a local travel agency? Or a Disney-only company, or someone else...I would greatly appreciate suggestions. Thank you!

Well, I can't sing, but I do love Dreams Unlimited! :teeth:
Sometimes I make my own reservations, but if I use a travel agency there is only one that I would even consider- Dreams Unlimited. I have used them before and gotten excellent service, and I'm using them for our upcoming trip.
For our upcoming WDW trip I had what I considered a "headache" of a reservation request, which included 3 rooms, two connecting, one adjoining, handicapped access, smoking optional, first floor preference, etc.
I know how to make a reservation and requests, but the combo that I was after was a real handful and more than I wanted to try to deal with over the telephone. My Dreams Unlimited agent secured the reservation, then converted my reservation to the AP discounted rates the morning that they officially came out.
I never once had to wait on hold with Disney. My reservation can be viewed online whenever I so choose ( great for the AR type), and my agent will plan as much or as little of my activities as I wish.
The best part? It's all free! Love, love, love DU!!

I am using Your Magical Journeys because they are very Disney knowledgeable and work hard to find the best rates and then advise you of options and do all the calling etc. saving you tons of time and expense. TA's do not charge - at least not this one. The Dis is sponsored by another agency who I have no experience with but people here speak positively about.

I'm not employed by nor get any benefits from telling the TA I use so I will assume it is okay to share. If not then I guess I'll be edited, lol.
