Travel Agent or no travel agent?

Oh I wish everyone stopped asking this.
You go to a travel agent like Dreams and unless they charge you a fee get an obligation free quote . Then you either before or after compare the quote to online and see if its any good. If its good you book
(remember travel agents are people too)
If not you either
A) show the quote to the travel agent that you got cheaper and see if they can match it.
B) You book on line without the agent

Now if the travel agent has done a lot of work for you a tip, or thank you written note or present might be appreciated but not necessity

Its not exactly the scariest thing in the world
if you a choosing a different agent to dreams make. sure they are an official Disney vacation planner.

PS If you used a travel agent and did not pay a fee and dis not end up booking. Paying a fee as a token of good will is a good thing. If you are going to use them a second time.
I am not a dreams travel agent and do not represent the company

Can a travel agent take Disney rewards dollars as payment? I've had agents get me extras that were not public knowledge or available to the general public. Does this happen at Disney? If travel agents can't take my rewards dollars then that's the answer I want. I also wish people would stop recommending travel agents instead of answering questions.

Once a TA makes those reservations, are you able to make changes? Add the dining plan? Increase the number of days on your ticket? Or does the TA own the reservation so changes have to go through them?

If it is the second, that the TA has to make the changes, then it isn't as simple as you make it seem.

yes, we "own" the rez, but if they're a good TA, it should be a simple as a quick text, email or phone call. A client could send me a text saying "add ddp with card on file" There's nothing else they need to do, took you all of three seconds and I do all the work. That's the pleasure of using a TA. Well, using one as good as me LOL

Remember its still your vacation.

But if they aren't as good as you , it takes multiple calls and emails and lots of headaches.

Basically it can be great but it can also be awful.

I've planned vacations for friends because it was awful and they needed the help.

This is why I send 1000's of emails to travel agents before I book to make sure they know what they are doing. Yes travel agents love me (sarcasm). But I used one hardly knew him and now he is one of my best friends. Oh what have I done!
