Had to answer a phone call so I hit "post" for the above, too late to edit for extra information so here's another post.........
The agent must occupy the resort room and use the ticket, and the ticket does expire even if not used. Could never add any dining plans and not sure if the new "ticketless" packages would allow that now, don't think so, haven't tried. The ticket purchase is done separately.
The discount is offered for the agent to familiarize themselves with Disney and any new updates each year. Not an ongoing open discount, and honestly some public discounts, like FD, are sometimes better! The discounts alone are definitely not a reason to become a travel agent specializing in Disney, it's the love of all things Disney and sharing that love and knowledge to make vacations magical for other people!
