Trash & Towel questions...

Ok - some logistical questions on this (my wife asked and I couldn't answer) :confused3

Do you really get enough towels? In a 1 bedroom (or studio) - how many towels do you get for a 5 day stay? Or is it based on occupancy?

How about if you use the pool? Can you get more/separate towels for pool use?

If you want/need more towels - is there a charge?

In the studio - are the community wash centers coin operated or how do they work (room key lets you in?)

Do the rooms have basic cleaning supplies in them (dish detergent, laundry soap, etc...)?

Thanks - thats it for a few minutes! (Even though first trip isn't until Jan!) :upsidedow

In a studio and one bedroom , there will be 4 bath towels, handtowels, and washcloths plus a bathmat. They will be replaced on day 4 of your stay. Extra towel packs can be requested from housekeeping for $6, or additoin Trash & Towel days can be requested for $10 each.

There are coin-op style washers and dryers at all DVC resorts, but they are free. The coin slots push in without coins. In one bedroom and larger units a single load box of tide is provided, additional detergent can be purchased at the general store, or there is a vending machine in the community laundry rooms.

Liquid dish soap is provided (studios), as well as dishwasher detergent (one bedroom and larger units.) Pool towels are provided free of charge near the pools. It is requested that pool towles not be used in the rooms, and remain in the pool area, as they are laundered separately from the in-room towels.

Great info.

We'll be ponying up for the additional towel pack at check in. With my wife and daughter both having VERY long hair....they each use 2 towels themselves!

Like most timeshares, DVC gives you enough towels to accommodate the number of people the room is designed for. If you are in a 1 bedroom or larger, you will have a washer and dryer in the unit, so washing towels as necessary isn't an issue if you don't expect to hang and dry them between uses. If you don't feel they need to be washed after each use, sometimes just throwing them in the dryer helps to freshen them. The extra towel pack is only $6 and can be ordered at check in. You can also opt for extra trash and towel days at $10 per.

It's 4 bath towels, 4 washcloths (sometimes more) and 2 hand towels.
We've been round about this enough times on our trips without winning. We try to request 2 extra hand towels so each guest can have their own hand towel. Housekeeping says that the hand towels are given out "per sink area" rather than per guest and so, a one bedroom or studio gets only 2 hand towels.
This has been going on for years. If we want more hand towels, we either have to bring our own or spend extra for a towel pack (which gets us only 2 more hand towels, but 4 more bath towels and wash cloths).

Not to go OT but has anyone used the 1 day mousekeeping in the middle of their stay? How was it you didn't have to be around, right?I got 2 kids that like gold fish if ya know what I mean.
Thanks
Chris

Hey Chris...just got back from 5 days at BWV...In your closet is a vacuum cleaner, mop and broom. We had our 2 grandsons with us and we just did a quick vacuum to clean up anything that was on the floor. We didn't pay for anything extra. As for the towels..we had 8 people in a 2 bedroom unit. We used the towels daily and on several occasions a couple of pool towels made their way into our rooms. :rolleyes1 We washed them with our regular laundry and used them as we did our room towels...There are no Towel Police :)

We usually stay 9 nights or more, so we have a full cleaning in there on the 4th day. We don't ever have little ones with, so it usually is sufficient, but sometimes adults make a mess too, and we once had someone spill an entire big bowl of popcorn on the OKW kitchen island. That got both the kitchen AND living room floors, so the vacuumn came in pretty handy. There is also a broom and dust pan in the laundry room. No such nicety in the studios, but you can always call and order an extra cleaning if it gets too bad.

pilferk, I share your pain - I have 2 teen daughters, and we could go through a million towels for wet hair!

A suggestion - I solved this problem by purchasing several of those "turban" microfiber-style head wraps. They are easy to pack, and they dry quickly hanging on the bathroob doorknob. I usually pack a couple of these when we go on vacation - they are great to use on your hair, they save on the towel usage, and they are easy to pack.

If your trip isn't until January, I would make some of those into a holiday gift for your wife and daughter. They are a big hit at my house!

Just wondering is it a towel pack( 4 bath towels, 4 washcloths, 2 hand towels )per person for your stay until housekeeping comes? Or is it 1 towel per person for the entire stay ?

Each studio and one bedroom villa gets 4 bath towels, two hand towels and four face cloths. If you want more (the towel pack) you will need to pay $6 to purchase it. If you want two towel packs, you will pay $12. Three, $18. Etc. You get fresh towels every four days.

If you stay at least eight nights, you will get a full cleaning (and fresh towels) on day 4. Then you will get your towels replaced and trash removed on day 8. If you are staying less than 8 nights, you will get your towels replaced and trash removed on day 4 - no full cleaning for stays less than 8 nights unless you pay for them.

If you want extra Trash and Towels service, it costs $10 per day you request it.

How much would it cost to get the full cleaning p/day and would this include new towels? Thanks!

I believe that Housekeeping usually replaces whatever they take.
Once we have the amount of towels we want, we wash some every other day or so to keep clean towels. If they are hung up when Housekeeping comes for cleaning, they don't take them.

Thanks for the info.

Just a note about the dryers in the villas. They are very inefficient for towels.
It took about 180 minutes to dry a load (not overloaded either)!
So plan accordingly.
We were a party of 8 with 6 kids who wanted to swim everyday, so a lot of showering going on.
I purchased 8 extra towels, which was perfect for the number of people. Just had to plan my washing and drying carefully because of the number of times it needed to be restarted.

We are staying at the BCV in a 2 bedroom, can someone please tell me how many towels they give you?

Thanks
