I found this idea on the boards...buy a bunch of glow necklaces and hand them out to other kids to spread the magic. I LOVED this idea and found a great deal on line www.higlow.com and bought 50 22" necklaces.

Okay, now the problem. The necklaces came a BIG hunken tube with lots of padding. I can probably stick the tube in a big suitcase and get them to FL, but how will I manage in the park?!?! The instructions said that they are fragile so I know that I need to protect them...but can I move them some other way than in this crazy tube? I think it will cramp my fun a little!

Any suggestions?

I guess I should have bought the bracelets! :confused3

IMO, there is no way you can transport those big tubes without damaging the necklaces.

I brought my own glow necklace that has batteries and used that instead. I also had bracelets, but forgot to break them out. DS had no interest. But it looks cook walking around at night with all of the glow stuff on.

It won't help the OP, but the trick with string-type glow pieces is to buy the kind that are packed in hard sleeves. (Usually the ones where the large pkg. contains smaller sealed packages, the sort that can be resold individually.)

All of these that I've been able to find are officially bracelet 3-pks, with connectors that turn the bracelets into necklaces. They cost a bit more than the sort in the single large tube, but they travel well, and I find that they are more heat-resistant, too.

We do this. I make a trip to the car before we head into Fantasmic. I pass them out to all the kids, like mine, who don't get the expensive toys that are sold.
The kids LOVE it.

Can't help with OPs specific problem, but most dollar stores have the little glow sticks that can be attached together. that is our plan. You get a package of 5 with the connectors and they only take up about 2-3 packs of gum worth of space in a fanny pack.

The necklaces will glow for a lot of hours (as a mother of 2 teen DD's who were addicted to the things in years past!!)...so if you go back to your hotel or car in the late afternoon or early evening, you can just take them out of the sleeve they came in and put them in your backpack or whatever....if some of the little cells break that start the glow reaction so what....they will glow for 12 hours or so anyways...still more than ample time to enjoy during the parade/shows/whatever.

Chances are not very many of them will get activated anyways. You usually have to make a point to bend and snap the things several times to get them going.

BTW...you might not want to take all 50 at once....it would take quite a while to snap them all to activate and hook up the little connector to make the circle....you might start a Main Street Riot!!! (LOL)...I would take a dozen or 2 at the most for one evening.

I brought some with us last summer via plane from Los Angeles. I took about 20 without the tube, but really well bundled. Unfortunately, most of them cracked and started glowing. But there were a few that made it and my kids had a great time wearing them throughout the trip.
