Most of my last trips to DL have been day trips and I rented a car at the airport for the day. This time, we'll be there for a few days and I'm not as well versed with DL transportation as I am with WDW's. We'll be staying on-site and probably won't be going off-site, even to eat. I don't really want to rent a car just to park it for three or four days. If we go to Universal or any other attractions, it'll be at the end of the Southern CA leg of the trip.

Does Disney provide shuttle transportation from the airport (either LAX or Ontario) to their hotels? If Disney doesn't, are there any car services that do or would it be easier/best to rent a car? Are there any car rental places near DL?

<font color=navy>The hotels do not provide towncar service. However, you can book roundtrip transportation on the Airport Bus, or Super Shuttle.

There are pros and cons to both, and Airport Bus is less expensive, but I prefer Super Shuttle

What's the best airport to fly into for DLR? We drove from Northern CA last summer and it was a looong haul with the kids. Not bad, but I'm looking to speed things along a bit this year. I'm not familiar with the SoCal airports so thought I would ask.

Orange County is the closest airport to Disneyland. It is about 16 miles or 25 minutes from Anaheim. Long Beach is anothe roption being about 20 miles away and approx 30 minues.

I found a listing of a number of different shuttle service/towncar services on the web for a conference that I was going to attend. I have no idea on how any of them are, though.

Last year we caught a Taxi from Orange County to the Grand California and then caught a towncar back to the airport.

Here are a couple that were on the list...

We are using a company called Limo2go ... we used them last year and they were good. We will see how it goes this year.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the great information. Since we are only visiting DL and are staying on-site, there really isn't any reason for us to rent a car if we end up flying down.

I agree, it's usually not worth renting a car. I fly into Orange County unless I can get a much cheaper airfare into LAX. If you have 4 or more in your party, it's cheaper to take a taxi than a shuttle. (around $36 + tip from Orange Co to DL hotels each way) I also recommend the shuttle or towncar over the bus; it's not that much more expensive, and is usually quicker. Sometimes, with the bus, you end up getting dropped off at a transportation center, and have to transfer to another bus to take you to your hotel. Big drag. I've taken Super Shuttle several times. I think it costs around $11 per person, each way, not including tip (from Orange Co). It's usually pretty easy to pick up a shuttle without a reservation, but it shouldn't hurt to make a reservation. You shouldn't get charged until you actually take the ride. That way, if you get to the airport and find that you are able to get quicker transportation with another company, you aren't charged for the one you made the reservation with.
