Trying to go from Pop Century to TTC, arriving at TTC at 7:30am.

I've read that bus service starts 1 hr before park opening, and elsewhere that some busses run early for pre-opening ADRs.

MK opens that day at 9am (no morning EMH).

IIRC, the busses from resorts (first time staying at PC but guessing it's the same), drop you right off at MK.

What time do you think I need to catch the early morning busses to be at TTC on time? How far is TTC to MK? Best way to get from TTC to MK?

How long do you think it will take to get from Pop to TTC?

I mapped it Pop to Richard Petty and it looks like a 20min drive? Wondering if we should keep our Budget rental car for another day (assuming I can get an extension to the $30/day rate), then drive to RP and return the rental car to the Budget desk at the TTC when we're done? Just thinking out loud on this one...

Any info/suggestions much appreciated.

cheers,
:)

Why are you trying to go to the TTC? I wasn't aware that there were resort buses that went there, but we are not big bus users, so maybe I just don't know that.

Do you want to get to the TTC to rent a car? I did not know that there was a Budge location at the TTC, but I don't go to the TTC that often
Some of the budget locations have free pick up service, perhaps it would be better to us that rather than going to the TTC.

Yeah, I missed that part - I think the OP is confused. Car rentals at Disney are at the Car Care Center, Swan/Dolphin (not sure which one), and at least one of the DTD hotels, maybe more than one.

I'm going to assume that you need to get to Richard Petty. THe buses do indeed start running by 6:30, but they don't run nearly as often as the 'regular' park buses do. You would need to be out at the MK bus stop by 6:25ish...you want to be on the first bus, so that you can get to MK and be waiting for the first monorail run at 7. That would get you to TTC for 7:30.
Your other option would be a cab...probably cheaper than keeping the rental car...I've yet to be able to extend my car for the same rate.

There is no Budget counter at the TTC...no rental companies are based there. Alamo and NAtional are at the Car Care Center...just down the road a bit. There is a company at Shades of GReen but I forget who it is.

I would actually just take a cab to Richard Petty...much easier and direct.

Thx a mint for all the replies...sorry, I was not clearer in my post.

Yes, I was confused about rental cars being at the TTC. Now that I know it's called the Car Care Center I looked it up.

goofy4tink, you are correct. I'm trying to get to RP. Thx a mint for the detailed info that I would have to go to MK and then take a monorail to TTC.

I just checked for Shades of Green - they are listed on Hertz's site as a location but when I select it, it says there's an error so possibly, they do not accept one-ways or they are closed now.

I'll check out the rental options and you're right, taking a cab would probably just be the easiest. Thx again for the help!

Thx a mint for the info, Rich!

I checked out cab fare, estimated to be about $30. So I added a day to the car. We plan to head to MK for a few hours and then take our customary mid-afternoon break before heading back to the parks for evening EMH. The break might be a natural time for us to return the car to DTD hotel, then head to Pop for our nap, then take Disney busses back to MK for the evening.

Or we can return the car the day before and just take a cab to RP, and Disney transport back to Pop for our break.

Either way, I'm delighted to have a set plan in place now. Thx all! :goodvibes

cheers,
:)

If you call and arrange with the Disney Car Care Center, they will come and pick you up at Pop, and when you return the car, they will drop you off where ever on property you would like. Though, I had friends they would only take to the TTC - I've always been dropped off where I requested.

If you return the car a day early with Alamo, there are many sites out there that warn of Alamo and other rental companies nullifying your rate and recharging you the maximum allowable daily rate. I have called Alamo about this, and they confirmed this is true - it is stated in the rental agreements. The agent told me if I return it within a 12-hour window I 'should' be ok.

^ This is true. klam_chowder, do not return the car a day early. They will most likely charge you a fortune!

cmhguy & Alesia, thx a mint for the tip. :thumbsup2

We rent cars fairly frequently on vacations (but only at WDW if we have to get back from the port), and was unaware of that penalty. I've seen rates before that seem less per wk than the few days we need them and have been tempted to take it and return it early...but have always been able to find a better rate as I look for quite a while - now I know better than to try that...LOL!

cheers,
:)
